You shouldn't need a gas check in a .45-70. Find a bullet that slips into a fired unsized case with slight resistance, that should be the right size. I used to shoot a 500 gr. bullet with excellent accuracy in mine

I keep some 1/4 X 28 stainless all-thread in the shop to make vents if needed. I don't mind installing a vent that somewhat over laps the breech plug. The drill will make some clearance on the face. I then unbreech the barrel, and smooth the...

I would specify a MUZZLELOADER gunsmith. Many modern gun mechanics are not that familiar with them. You want someone who knows where to put the vent.

I agree, don't care for the threads on the White Lightening, although the tap isn't all that hard to come by. They were popularized by the eastern cult. They work no better than a standard 1/4 X 28 vent. Another point on that. Vents DO wear out....

I get daily real estate listings. There are some reasonably priced properties in the Lemon, S.D. area. If you want cheap and dry, look at Glasgow, Montana. Only problem is, you are a LONG way from anything resembling a real town.

Good job. too many are afraid to tackle a plank build. I find them easy to do, and you can make them as you like. Too many kits have sloppy inletting, or the lock mortise out of place. I've not done a Kibler kit, but they apparently have such good...

Tyrants use the force of the people to chain and subjugate-that is, enyoke the people. They then plough with them as men do with oxen yoked. Thus the spirit of liberty and innovation is reduced by bayonets, and principles are struck dumb by cannon shot: Albert Pike, Morals and Dogma
