Walks replied to a thread have you ever heard this in Our Town
I've never hunted with factory ammo in My life. Had a number of factory rounds fail on me; no anvil in the primer, no powder in the case, incorrectly formed hull or brass case. Even had my first box of Federal .25-06 fail to hit the paper. At...

Walks replied to a thread .40/65 brass in Black Powder Cartridge
I used Rem .45-70 brass for My original 1885. It seems the softest of anything I tried. Imperial Sizing Wax worked well, a gentle hand on the press handle usually prevented creases in the brass. But that was 25yrs ago. Brass may have changes,...

Never liked the #452460, so I don't care for the #45-200-SWC. Accuracy was not the best. The #68 Flat Base was a favorite of My Dad, mine too. Lost that mold years ago. The #45-201-SWC/KT feeds in stock G.I. bbl's, so I like it a lot. Best...

I've had 6 over the years, still have 2; a very early M23 and a very early M21. The others just slipped away, nothing wrong with them. Do just Love My Glocks, a lot more with Wolf bbl's. And captive recoil springs.

Walks replied to a thread Once fired brass???? in Our Town
I've always used once(my own gun) fired brass for hunting loads. The way I look at it; tested in my gun. It survived so it's good to depend on. Once fired is just how old the brass is, how many times it been shot. So you have an idea to start...

Interesting that the author managed to shoot .22WRF in his .22Mag. I tried it in 3 Convertible Revolvers, a Colt and both a Ruger NM SS & OM SS. Wouldn't fire in any of them.

The new WinAA are junk, Win did something about 10yrs ago. Made them cheaper somehow. Rem STS hulls are the greatest. The rims are a bit thicker too. My old Savage and I appreciate that. That is a good soft shooting loads. However a Mec 600 from...

The Leopold, T/C and Burris that I have are absolutely first rate. Never given me any trouble. A 14" .35Rem with a Leupold 2X7 and a 10" .44Mag with a Burris 2X have given great service for over 30yrs. Nothing has ever loosened up or "bottomed...

I've been using the Lyman Powered Trimmer for 30+ years, put the Lyman Case Express behind it and it goes Really Fast. That lee trimmer worked like horse apples for me.

I agree that trimming handgun brass is generally a waste of time. For light loads. I loaded .38Spl, .44Spl, .45Colt and .44WCF for 20+yes of Cowboy Shooting. Upwards of 20,000rds a year. Starting out with all new or once-fired brass I never...

When I first started casting on My own, I cast only at night. Only time I had to cast as I worked can't see to can't see, going to an Indoor Range 2-3 nights a week. Halfway out the patio door of My 3rd floor apt. Used a Leather mallet as I had to...

Same with me. Even though I started reading Shooting Times early on and My Dad already shot the same loads as Skeeter, I loved his articles and stories the best of any Shooting mag ever. With Peter Hathaway Capstick a close second.

I grew up in the Southern California Surfer Boy Culture, in the 1960's. A dark tan was mandatory. And kinda hard to avoid as we ran around wearing only Jams. You had to wear a shirt and sandals going to and from the beach, But that was it. With...

I cast some #454190 out of My old 4cav mold once. Used Linotype as I was going to try them out in My S&W M1917. Dad always said to cast hard for the old .45ACP Revolvers and OLD 1911/1911A1 bbl's. They dropped at .456. I sized them .454, then .452...

Until I stated Cowboy Shooting in 1987, I don't think I ever fired at a target under 25yrds. Shot some Handgun Silhouette before then, Bullseye too. Dad said if you can hit it a 25-50yrds, you can certainly hit it inside of that. I still...
