    Teflon tape may be better on a plain smooth sided bullet ,or on a lightly knurled one.....I recall back in the day there was big fuss about teflon coated pistol bullets,claimed they went straight thru police body armor..........all the gang bangers...

    In the days of service 303 rifle shooting there was no preference for either 2 or 5 groove barrels .........as kids we used to salvage spent bullets for scrap at the military range ,and there were plenty of two groove bullets.

    i wouldnt be worried about breathing fumes........however its just possible the teflon may decompose in tiny amounts .....producing tiny amounts of acid residue in the barrel..........its proved in bearing technology that teflon deposits on both...

    I keep batteries until I have over 1 ton (about 50 pickup/truck),then take them to the scrap yard ........I clip all the exposed lead before taking them..........you get a realistic rate for over 1 ton ,under you get the dopeheads rate.

    As an experiment ,I took a Lee 2 cavity mould straight out of the box,didnt clean or smoke it ,and started casting bullets.........worked perfectly.........now oddly enough ,for years I cast with the lead too cold,shiny bullets with rounded edges...

    I know one thing,Hornady 45/70 brass jammed in my Marlin from some extractor bind up issue.......never had any problems with Win and Rem 45/70............may well explain why the Hornady brass was left on the ground at the range.

    If the bore is shootable ,you can use 6.5 Carcano ammo ,as the dimensions are near the same ...as mentioned the bores are much larger than suit 264 bullets,more like 267/269.......most military 6.5s need larger than 264 bullets.
