Randy I didnt say they (tang sights) are not effective - I have a couple (that I built myself) - windage, vernier staff, hadley cup on one - sure they are effective - but that is for target shooting, On my 76 Uberti made the sight - picked the...

Ed you and your mate are the ones wrong (VERY) wrong - the fact you (and others) have figured how to make a compromise twist perform well does not alter the fact that its a compromise and a 1/48 is a poor choice for a larger roundball (50 cal up)...

Absolutely nothing wrong with the williams for a hunting sight - had one on my 348 over twenty years and its never been a problem - tang sights on a lever gun are a PITA for field shooting

My Browning 71 gets a CBE 225 Gascheck + 56 grains Winchester 760 = chrono 2350 FPS - its a good load for a tough old boar pig - tried the hornady 200grain J boolit but too fragile up close .

I think it (overpowder wad) only matters when we are trying to squeeze the last little bit out of a blackpowder load (either accuracy OR velocity) also think a solid well fitted wad helps some with fouling in the end let the target talk -...

Nothing more versatile to load for than a CVA - pipsqueak loads up to full house - accurate all the way! They might have missed some on quality (locks and woodwork) but the geometry of their rifling - they absolutely nailed it.
