If the head is the only thing that is messed up ? Try welding the head up and file to reshape it. I have had to do this several times .

Years ago. I took a cut off section of an octagon barrel and welded 4 pieces of steel rod to the cut off piece so it slipped on to the rifles barrel indexed. Kind of like a False Muzzle. I would load the slugs thru the cut off section I could...

I too have put on Taller sights to counteract a rifle that the drop in the butt stock was too flat. That one is a Traditions , St Louis Hawken kit that I built. I didn't want to reshape the stock , because it fit others just fine. It is just my...

I am with the bending of the wedge. I have put a oiled paper shim under the barrel. That works good. But you have to remember to reinstall it every time you pull the barrel.

I agree with you Joe. But a lot of people are all modern and like the Looks of the more modern sights. Plus being Adjustable , it makes it easier for people to get the rifle Zeroed in at that 100 yard mark . And some people like me , where their...

Thanks MaryB, I’ve used the foam that comes in a can on an ice maker once and it was messy got it on my hands and was difficult to get off. Probably smarter now and will use rubber throw away gloves.

The pins should drive in from the right. Drive out from the left. Hold the rifle or pistol and point it . The right side is on your right. After all. Isn't a gun an extension of Your Body.

What is the diameter of your Cast REAL boolits .517. Is that all the slug diameter , or just the widest part at the lower band ? Do you use an over powder wad under the Boolits ? What is the depth of you rifling ?

Oil base stain does look good. But the ones I have done with it looked like the color was on the surface only. The Alcohol Dye seemed like it penetrated deeper and not a surface color.

That looks to be the Longer version of the rifle kit that I bought. Mine is the F3350 Cub in .32 flintlock. The patch box is the reason I went with that model. The shorter barrel was because my wife doesn't like the long front heavy barrel. But...

I think Lamping would work. That is , heating up the steel and dipping it in oil. That does darken the finish and leaves a surface coating to protect it from rust. Surface hardening will also help. But if the steel is mild steel , be careful not...

Do you happen to know what your rifling Twist is. You might be able to look into Slugs or Sabots if you have a faster twist in the rifling. Faster than 1:48 will work for heavy slugs or minies. Lee and others make some slug molds that are .575 ...
