NSB--- I hadn't considered that part or realized it made that much difference. Thanks for pointing that out. Also nice to know the barrel in my 22a is on par with the model 41. I always wondered about that but I can't afford a 41.

I have a couple of 22lr semi-auto pistols that are entry level target pistols. I also have a couple of 22lr revolvers, both of which are target grade revolvers. Both are S&W. The pistols are model 22A-1 and the revolvers are models 17 and 617. All...

tazman replied to a thread Wolf match/target ammo in Rimfire Area
Perhaps that is why Eley rebranded that particular run as Wolf. I have never had an issue with hard brass in any of the Elfy Match, Tenex, or Club I have used. I have never been able to purchase any Wolf. I probably wouldn't anyway, since it is...

That ammo is made by Eley. Their priming is famous for that smell. Aguila also uses Eley priming. I don't know which of the many levels of Eley ammo the Wolf would equate to. Some of Eley's ammo shoots MUCH better than others.

I have a CZ452 Trainer that comes from the factory set up for iron sights. I have a scope on it with high rings to clear the rear sight. I have to shoot it with my cheek off the stock but I found out it likes it that way.

If it was easy, anybody could do it. You are doing better than you think.

As NSB suggested, find out where the problem spot/s in the barrel are located. A borescope will help by giving you a visual of the area. It may also let you know if there are any rough spots and how bad they are. My recent experiences with J B...

NOE has a very similar boolit and lists the BC as .2400.

I remember the old 357 mag Super Vel loads. I had them blow the side out of a forcing cone for me in a 357 mag revolver I had back in the early to middle 70s. Fortunately, the manufacturer of the revolver replaced the gun.

That is one of the reasons my Model 60 only sees 38 Special ammunition. I also don't shoot it nearly as much as my other revolvers. I will put over 3000 rounds of 38 Special ammo through some of my revolvers over just the winter months. J frame...

Interesting read. I think we had already discussed most of that in this and other threads at some point. I wish I had the money needed to do the ammo testing it would take to find that/those optimum lot/lots of ammo. That may be the worst part of...

The next trick is learning which wind has more effect on POI, the wind nearest the shooter, the wind halfway downrange, or the wind the last yards to the target. If the wind is consistent over the entire distance to the target, the offset is much...

All my S&W (and I have several K frames)revolvers shoot both bevel based and plain based boolits well. I cannot tell the difference in accuracy myself. I have not tested with a Ransome rest so I can't verify that way. I just know my groups are the...

Yes they have. Still, why push the limits? Just buy a more powerful gun.

Being able to load hot ammunition is all well and good but, and it is a big but, the people making modern firearms are making them to current SAAMI standards. Not the standards from back in the day. Use modern data for modern firearms. When you run...

I think NSB may be right. A good cleaning is in order. I am not certain if it is leading or carbon fouling. A good cleaning should take care of both issues. The chamber on the MTR rifles is very tight. Any buildup of fouling in the chamber throat...
