the snug part is the key. I always use wet-r-dry paper, 600 grit or finer and lube with Kroil. I do go to really SNUG for may first pass then start backing off as I get closer to my target. Be warned lubed paper with a snug fit and lots of Kroil...

I looked very closely at the insulation when I had the problem, but saw nothing. No cracks, splits or buildup of possible conducting material. It is of note the newest elements have insulation that protrudes out along the electric wire versus...

a brass rod, especially if u plan to do a pound cast of throat. for 30 cal I use a 1/4” brass rod and because I am anal I used some heat shrink to take up most of the slop so that it won’t slap the bore. with brass you can peen the end so that...

I just got finished putting a 3 prong grounded plug on the little 4 pounder. The Lee 4/20 comes from the factory with a grounded plug. Go figure… ground on one but not the other.

LOL, it was listed on the Florida Gun Trader long before the current craziness was going on. That pic is from the listing. I don't recall any questionable warning signs when I picked them up at his house. Just something he wasn't interested in...

I dunno how bumping without follow-up sizing works. Bumping is a wag at best with no control of where on the bullet the swelling occurred. A sizer kinda smooths everything out and provides a standard where each bullet is at least marginally the...

yeah, some more info would be interesting. It seems like the heat transfer couldn't be as fast or as complete as the submersion in a liquid. The liquid is in total and complete contact with the surface of the brass. Beads or fine silica would...

I guess it all depends on what you see and what your friend is asking, but if the prices seems reasonable I'd probably try to buy the whole lot. Those you don't want or need can easily be swapped for what you need in swap-n-sale. I picked up...

this from Mk42gunner; and this from gwpercle; got me thinking. so I broke out the Lee 4 pounder pot, used the same alloy drained from the 4/20, lightly fluxed once with a bit of beeswax, prewarmed the mold at the 4 setting (versus the...

Catkiller45, my thought exactly, how much "TOO small" for your Henry rifle are your boolits? An oven thermometer, a cheapo toaster oven (new or from a thrift store) and a pound of PC powder is about all you need. At least for a look see, or...

there really isn't any pitting or corrosion on the element, but surely a possibility. why the element shorted is less of a concern than how it could operate in a shorted unsafe condition. Guess it's a good thing I never felt inclined to cast...

I primarily use a Lee 4/20 bottom pour pot, but also have a Lee 4 pound pot I use for this and that (salt bath annealing and small batch different alloy casting). A few weeks ago I was using it and thought I felt a tickle but didn't give it much...

Larry, for grins a couple weeks ago I tried heat treating some 2% and 50/50 at 450 for an hour then dropped into ice water. Via pencil I went from 11-12 bhn to 13 bhn. I had flat filed four sides before heat treating so I can continue to...
