Welcome to your new addiction. You may as well to ahead and get another 1860, because, slowly but surely, you'll develop the urge to have a brace of them. I highly recommend the replacement nipples from Track Of The Wolf. They're made like the...

Little update. I didn't resize the brass after the last firing. I just ran it through the expader to knock what was left of the crimp out. I am now loading 35grains Sheutzen 2f. I'm using the compression plug made from the old undersized...

I know Brooks molds makes a HB heeled bullet mold that is just like the original, with the exception of a flat nose for safety. I have some work to do before I load ammo. Before I do anything, I have to see if I can clean up the throat. It was a...

Well, I'm committed now. Graf's had dies and lebel brass in stock, so I grabbed them. I have some molds that will work for test purposes while I get a better one.

True, but I was thinking more along the lines of loading a single round to pick up that last target on a stage that takes 12 rounds instead of 11.

I haven't seen mention of warranty work on .44mag, but, then, I haven't encountered anyone who shoots one. Most get them in 45lc and shoot cowboy loads. Some use .357s. I encounter the odd .44-40. I didn't even know they made them in .44 mag. If...

I read just fine. None of what you said addressed anything I was talking about. You read the thread title and maybe the first paragraph and off you went. BTW, it's a '92, not a '94. I've never actually had this issue with '94s. The loading...

Responded. There seems to be a lot of confusion in this thread about the issue I'm describing. Would it help if I detailed it in a video?

That doesn't actually solve my issue, because there's nothing catching the cartridge and preventing it from going in. If I could take a mm off the end of the gate, that might work.

The 73 is slicker, but with a 92, you can pick up any box of ammo that says ".44 magnum" on it and run it without having to worry about the gun. That alone is enough to put me in the 92 camp.

That's not my original in the picture. Let me see if I can explain what's happening a little more clearly. My gun feeds just fine. That's not the issue. At no point does loading a round into the magazine require excessive force. I believe I...

You might want to look at some of the smokeless rifle loads for .44-40. :-D I will say, if I was going 44mag, I would go with a 92 action. I like having the option of buying ammo off the shelf without having to worry about whether or not it will...

Yeah, that's the problem. There's not enough clearance for me to push it that far. I have to poke my little finger underneath the edge of the window to push the cartridge far enough for the gate to close.

It may be, but that would have to be some butter soft steel for brass to wear on it like that.

So, I got my new Winchester/miroku 1892 SRC, and it is gorgeous. However, it has a slight issue for my purposes. When I thumb a round in the loading gate, it holds the gate open until I poke my little finger in there and push the cartridge just a...

To elaborate further, you don't want to use powders that are slower burning than those two. It raises the port pressure and is harder on the oprod. The Scheuster adjustable gas plug works great on them BTW.

The tire shop was going to charge me $950 for the same set of tires that I paid $650 for three years ago. I got them for $488 online. They'll mount and balance them for $75. I don't know why they're gouging right now. I understand that the mom and...

This isn't the answer you're looking for, but save yourself some headache and get one from accurate. Yes, it costs a lot more, but there's a reason for that. I bought the one from lee, and it was undersized and out of round.

Erosion on the pin isn't and issue. It's peening of the recoil shield.
