You got that right, those 721's, 725's, 30s, 121s, 37's, 500 series of .22's, and a lot of shotguns. Beautiful machining and bluing, great stocks, designed to last several life times and built for it too. Those days are gone I suppose, there's a...

It's the cheap plastic look and feel. I miss genuine walnut and polished blue steel, with iron sights. The plastics and stainless have their places, I have a Remington 700 SA with a Hart SS #7 barrel in a aluminum skeleton stock with a solid...

I might have to start looking for a 581 or 582 at the local shows. I bought the wife a 581 in the 1970's and thought it a fine rifle for the price, but she didn't use it and it went away for something I thought more useful at the time.

I had a Remington 512 when I was a boy, dad paid $25.00 for it. I took it out every chance I got, so long as I had ammo for it, until a clumsy cousin got his hands on it and returned it with a broken stock, but plate in pieces, bolt sheared off,...

As for Remington, if they're going to build sporting arms with plastic stocks, rifles without iron sights, and follow the crowd they can sink as far as I'm concerned. I won't miss them at all. Ruger could do good things with the Marlin brand,...

Seems all the gun writers think it's the best thing since smokeless powder was invented, (of course they're getting it free or at a whopping discount). I tried it and was not impressed, I went back to IMR4227 and IMR4198 for those applications. It...

Looks like Hodgodon made powders are all in the mid-high $30.00 range, direct from Hodgodon. Yeah, I guess that's the new normal...until it goes up again.

When you get it done, spend some time working the slide to slick things up a little. I watched a video of a factory guy making one and test firing it, he had two jams on the first magazine full, said this was normal until the gun slicked itself...

I hope it works out for you. I got the idea from an old gunsmith years ago. He used a 2x2 piece of bar stock and milled about an inch out of the center to form it into a flat U, drilled one side, tapped it, and threaded a bolt through, simple.

You might be able to make one from an old heavy wrench or any U shape steel object 1/2'' or wider/thicker. Drill and tap the side of a jaw for a 1/4-5/16'' grade 8 bolt. Crude, but the same principal as an expensive sigh pusher, one jaw against...

I don't think you're gonna get a .22 springer that will do 1,000fps at any price, 700-750fps is more realistic. .177, yes but not a .22, PCP, maybe, but not a springer. I have one that's about worth what I paid for it, and that's almost 3X what...

As far as dealers go, there's a few on places like, Guns International, Gun Broker, etc. I tend to ''generally'' avoid, but sometimes take a look at their stock, just in case. None that I know of are out and out thieves, you just have to know what...

It's a sad state of affairs when criminals, (in this case, thieves) are given a pass to rob us. Apparently what they have in store is a subdued society where we just hand it over, no fight or WE go to jail...just like the queen's subjects.

My favorite place for this powder is under a Lyman 311332 in a .30-06 case, 25-29 grains works very well, and I have some good M-1 Carbine ammo loaded with it. I like to keep a few pounds of it in my locker.

They do make dovetail ''nuts''-clamps for the large 6'' machinist vices, you slide them into the slots and clamp down with a screw, but proper size carriage bolts with a 4'' vice works just as well.
