Just sent a ruger MK IV 22/45 back last week for lite fp hits. Ran 1000+ rounds thru it and it never smoothed out. Should be getting it back tomorrow. Figured I'd give ruger 1st bite at the apple & hopefully they fixed it. If not I'll buy a $30...

That bullet's a +/- 90 year old design that didn't work then and is still worthless to this day. Might look good on paper but it will never fly

OH boy  Not picking on anything buttttt: That "front" hold down screw is actually the only hold down screw from the factory. The 452 cz scouts only came with 1 hold down screw located between the trigger and the mag. A lot of people...

I'm not saying you're doing anything wrong. Everyone looks at things differently. A tuner is there to take the vertical dispersion out of the ammo. A tuner has nothing to do with the horizontal dispersion. When you do see the tuner affecting the...

Typically I test with ammo that has es's in the 30's. And yes I chronograph every shot. I look for setting that get the largest difference in velocity of those 2 shots and puts them in the same hole/next to each other. Once you find where that...

Well I needed more then what that pistol had. Hit the loud button and it would be bang, bang, pop, bang, bang, bang, pop, etc. It did this with 4 different kinds of ammo. Put the same ammo in another pistol and they all went bang. Some hits...

Called ruger and they sent a shipping label via e-mail. Nice people to deal with, the woman I talked to was very pleasant, very knowledgeable & made sure I understood what to do when sending the pistol back. Told her no big deal & that I...

You and I test differently I don't care about 10-shot strings nor do I care about what the bullet's speed is at the 50yd line. I will record every shot to get a larger more realistic idea of what the sd's & more importantly what the es is for...

Typically when you see too much side to side movement of the bullets poi when adjusting the tuner. It's caused from bedding issues or torque setting on the hold down screws. !/8" is nothing. A chronograph would make choices a lot easier....

Thank you for the replies had a 22/45 MK III years ago and sold it. Don't know why, same goes for several MK I's and a MK II. When I got the MK IV home after the 1st outing I pushed on the fp to see how far it stuck out into the bolt face. It...

Was cleaning out the basement a couple weeks ago and came across a couple 50cal ammo cans. Went to move them and to my surprise they were pretty heavy. Opened them up and found they were full of 22lr ammo. It's the cheap blammo ammo like federal...

Typically when you keep getting a flier like the ones pictured above it's a direct result of bolt issues, inconsistent ignition. Simple things like dirt in the fp channel, slop in the fp fit in that channel, burrs, worn springs/parts, sear...

Wind flags, wind charts, doping the wind only works if your firearm is setup correctly. It all starts with the action screws and a good torque wrench. On any rifle I plan on competing with or want to wring every last bit of accuracy I can out of it....

Myself, I prefer to shoot targets and use scores as a guide/gage as what a firearm/ammo combo can do. #'s on a target don't mean much unless they are there to try to find out something or are being used to compare results. I use those test...

That was a very good target you shot!!!! Not trying to rain on anyone's parade but you should measure groups from the edges on the black smudge marks the bullet leaves on the target. Not the holes themselves. Typically a 22lr bullet will leave...

You are supposed to take the diameter of the hole the bullet leaves in the target and subtract that from the outside to outside group measurement to find the actual group size. A typical 22lr target with 4 different 5-shot groups on it shot @...

I use nothing but 8/9bhn range scrap for every pistol caliber I reload for up to +/- 25,000psi loads with pc'd bullets. I water drop the cast bullets simply because it keep them from getting banged up/dents on the bottom drive band. Typical water...

Had 2 different 40x's that had the "tuners" in the front of the stock. They would need to be reset with every outing when used. I used them in cooler weather, they tended to stop 1st shot fliers in 50*/60* weather. FWIW: It's common practice to...

FWIW: I've owned a couple of different mauser 22lr's over the decades, all of them like the cheap sk standard+ over the eley club. Used to buy a lot of eley club, used it to season the bbl's on clean rifles. It used the same lube as the 10x &...

quickloads will have insight why some powders have increased pressures when using hotter primers. 3n37 & 3n38 are known for this. It has to do with how much of the powder burns. On another website a guy is using 3n38 with a 115gr bullet in a 9mm and...
