Just got a Long ranger in 308W. Dang rings are high $ and a wait to get them. Nicest rifle I have. Gotta wait to shoot it though.

Proper neck only sizing requires a custom die. Object is to reduce the neck sizing wear from non-custom die sqeezing, then expanding neck. Example - you load a 308 bullet and want 2 thous neck tension. Normal die puts ID at 303, then expands to...

I have found it works good for rifle and pistol. Beware, the seating depth it provides needs to be verified or changed to your value. I typically use Lee bullet data for my loads and vary seating depth.

Be sure to go down the falls ladders. Look for a collection of cars at the turnouts - usually bears feeding on elk or bison. You need a good spotting scope. Took the kids on the back trail cookout, was fun, about 30 yrs ago.

It was a recently 'dead' 150ish# boar (some 9mm and then 40sw to the head). Shot in gut and got pass through, not in shoulder. IIRC, soft alloy 185gr FP & 29gr 3031. Exit on gut shot was ~45 size. Shot from 3-4 ft., marlin 30/30. Hog was towed...

You set your die to give proper H.S. for your gun. The only purpose of H.S. is to keep the case head VERY close to the bolt surface. The actual number is irrelevant. Same with COAL.

I don't use any length measurement, seat to what fits and works. As seating depth changes pressure, work up the load for a proper seated bullet. Any published load is just a hint to me. Too many variables. I don't have any molds with crimp grooves.

The Lee elec. full of alloy will get you ~500 200gr bullets. Easily 1000 per day, unless you ladle pour. I can't cast more than 500 at a sitting so refill the pot and wait an hour to begin again - actually I refill when 1/4 full, speeds it up. 6x...

Yup, 400 is pretty long for anything at an animal. I figure 200 max with cast (or anything for me) out of 308. IIRC 300 is the Mil expectation of combat. And you get another target if that didn't work, sometimes.
