BK7saum replied to a thread 300 Blackout Problems in Cast Boolits
I ran converted R-P and LC 5.56 brass in my CZ 527 300 blackout without any issues. Cast bullets at .3095 and jacketed.

Probably a brittle brass issue. Annealing the necks should solve your problem.

BK7saum replied to a thread anneal? in Case Forming / Re-forming
It really depends. Sometimes if you annealing first, you will collapse the shoulder and ruin the case. If it will form as is, I think I would form and anneal later. It really isn't a huge stretch from -06 to 8x57. Then maybe anneal before going to...

I have a 340PD. it is a hand full with full power 357s. I shot 2 rounds of 158 grain 357 mags just to see how they were. Now I just carry speer gold dot +p 125 grain. The 340PD sure is light to carry though. I carry in the pocket all summer.

Can you find any 6mm ARC brass? Shouldn't be much reforming or fireforming required.

I have the previous Hornady version with the longer spring at a diagonal. I had a hard time with fine flake or ball powder. My tolerances between drum and hopper were a little loose. If interested, shoot me a pm.

how hot did you get it? I know the red and tacky has a fairly strong odor, but don't really remember the smell being that bad. You really don't want to overheat most lubes when making/blending

The 7-30 waters is based on the 30-30 case, not the .307 winchester.

I really don't know what a 7-30 improved is. The 7-30 waters doesn't allow much room to be improved.

I have had all if my aluminum molds damaged by water. they corroded in the box on the exterior of the blocks, with some corrosion on the mold faces. Luckily the cavities remained unhurt. water from storm damage was the culprit.

They are for measuring your chamber length. Even at max saami case length, some brass is still 0.015-0.020" short of the end of the chamber. Some chambers are cut xtremely generous. If I was loading soft cast bullets, I want the transition from...

If you have soft lead and a fired pistol case, just melt some lead into the case, then remove with a kinetic bullet puller. The slug will be tapered and easy to start and not much over groove size. Works great. Of course the case is annealed and...

So we are back to something in the seating process is causing the cartridge to not chamber. We have discussed 1) Case bulging during seating (from a crimp) and 2) Case length too long How far is your seating die backed off of your...

I guess I'd like to know. is this a factory chambered rifle or a gunsmith chambered rifle? I am not aware of all the ruger #1 chamberings. I was working under the premise that this was a factory saami chamber. If chambered by a smith, then neck...

15.47lbs lead is 247.52 ounces. You want to add 2%. That is 0.02 times your lead weight in ounces SO... 247.52 times 0.02 is 4.95 ounces of tin. If 50/50 lead/tin, you need to double the weight to actually get the 4.95 ounces of tin...

If you are not crimping and you are using factory brass and the bullet is not into the lands, I have no idea what the problem is. My response was to a very common problem often encountered. The seating die is also usually also a crimping die....

You are likely overcrimping the case during bullet seating. Bolt action cartridges do not require a crimp. place a sized cartridge case in your press with ram in UP position. then screw in your seating die. The die should not touch the cartridge...

BK7saum replied to a thread NOE mold in Cast Boolits
What gun are you trying to use the boolits in? Handguns are supposed to have .429" groove dimensions, while rifles are spec'd at 0.431. Typically I use a .432-.434 in lever action .44s. A ruger super Blackhawk I have should do alright with a...

Once again, I don't think your issue is with the lube you are using. The xpress shell holder only allows extremely limited purchase on the case rim for extraction. I really don't think lube will prevent the occasional stuck case using xpress shell...

The APP isn't meant or designed to me used to resize cases with the express shell holder. There isn't enough rim contact and you will pull cases out of the shellholder and stick them on a regular basis, probably with any case lube. Save resizing...
