Harter66 replied to a thread Oversizer throats in Cast Boolits
At the risk of tired advise ........ Match the throats in this case .374 might be best here . Size to the throats . For a std mould something on the order of a fat 918/9mm Mak might serve well . A more sensible plan might be to locate a HB...

For your immediate situation I would suggest something more appropriate to target work . Perhaps the AT 1 series .

I have a 454424 with an HP mod I think I could dabble with the nose length there and duplicate the 423 at 230 . I wish Lee made a 452-230 RNFP like the 452-255 minus a band and groove or even the 452-252 SWC . Maybe a 454421 :)

Just a note , the 45 Colts I had would not feed RP brass whether new ammo or hand loads and it didn't matter whether they were brass or nickel either . I fussed with the polishing and all and sold the RP brass it was all sticky in the pistols anyway...

I can't say what .1 will do with a 45-70 but it's probably real close to adding 25 gr to the bullet weight . Purely a mechanical point of view . It sounds like a throat , or rather lack of throat issue to me . That or your bullet is just...

I gave $25 for a Santa Barbara 98 bolt and receiver . Spent $85 for a hinged floor plate . $10-12 for a GI 2 stage trigger and sear . An under appreciated mildly eccentric gun smith gave me a take off 358 barrel he rethreaded from Arisaka to...

Got a 5.7FN die ...... That case is about right for a heavy weight 30 cal rifle . There's a lot of cutting needed to get it down to a 70 gr jacket . I'm way out of my pond here so disregard as needed .
