    I think the original lead loading for these was right around 630 fps They changed to a lighter jacketed bullet that was around 680 fps . If you try to push them harder you'll find yourself with a loose revolver pretty quickly .

    I'm not a fan of the original jimmy dean , it has sage . But the maple links are quite tasty . or they were the last time I had any . Its been at least 10 years since I've had them

    One thing I can't stand in sausage is sage , so many breakfast mixes have it in them . it just ruins it for me .

    That's a nice looking rifle , not being a collector the refinish wouldn't bother me either . I like the early rifles better myself as well . Congrats

    I think your over thinking things a bit to much . So you overcome that issue by simply setting up a stop on the surface plate to push the bullet base against as you measure . Then you can measure any point on the bullet you want ,...

    I hate to ask dumb questions , but if you want to quickly and accurately measure in quantity . Why not buy a small surface plate and a good test indicator ? Set your nominal height with a gauge block then roll the bullets under the test...

    I think what he's trying to say is the piston might be a tad shorter then it used to be ;) Rods can compress without bending a minor amount to , but that's a lot less likely then them bending .
