It appears they have adopted new forum software. The forums are listed on the right side of the page. I dabbled over there for a moment by chosing “single shots” which opened a new page with the current threads on the left side of the page. The...

She's pretty well known around here. Directly from one of her family members. I think the guy she is talking about is the manager for the gun area. I've heard a lot of other stories about odd service at that store.

I hope no other female, experienced shooter, has to go through this experience. “Today, I walked into Cabelas in Kalispell to look at a Sako S20 300 win mag that I’ve been thinking about purchasing. Upon handling it I noticed a few scratches on...

Okay, I've only been shooting them for 47 years, and building them for 40 years. Nipples should only be removed once a year for inspection and lubing.

That's a shame. Machineguns Montana announced they will be holding a machine gun shoot somewhere here around Kalispell this summer. It would be nice to have an event like that local annually.

Years ago the “oil rack” was out back of the gas station. Once they finished the oil change they would coat with used motor oil (by spraying) the underside of your vehicle if ask. It worked well. The GOV stopped that practice in late 60’s / early...

Cosmoline is very effective as well as resilient when used correctly. Properly applied and protected it will last indefinitely as witness by the condition of surplus guns being sold now which were rebuilt then preserved during or after a war. ...

Ladies and Gents- My 358 hunting rifle is a 700Rem action, mated to a 20" PacNor cm barrel with a 16" twist. Had it stocked in Kevlar by MPI stocks of Coos Bay, OR in a Mannlicher style (to the muzzle) with schnabel. I chose the 16" twist since...

It is not a good idea to remove nipples on cap locks. It will cause thread wear, and they will not seat properly after much use.

Back nearly fifty years ago, myself and some friends used to hunt rattlesnakes. At that time, you could milk them in the field, and then sell the venom to the hospital for very good money per gram. Then the rules changed, and the snakes had to be...

When you get right down to it, fossil fuel vehicles will be around until the price and efficiency is at a point where people prefer the electric vehicles. Buggy whip factories didn't go out of business because they were outlawed. People just decided...

Electric vehicles will be great, as long as you don't need a heater or air conditioner. Around here, you need both the same day.

I have to admit, I'm not one bit surprised at anything the CMA does. I was born in a large city and lived there until I was 13. A pure rock & roller from the start. My father moved us back to the rural area where he grew up, it was there my country...

It takes multiple cycles of oxidation and boil out. For boiling, you need to go 25 minutes for the conversion to work well. If steaming, 20 minutes.

I had several break on an original Sharps. Not from forgetting to half cock, they were just poor quality cast springs. I made a spring for it from good steel, and never had it break again.

It would be good if you could examine the bore on that rifle with a bore scope. Jukar at one time would bore and rifle the barrel from both ends. They weren't too particular if the holes aligned in the middle of the barrel.

I let my lye soap age around six months before use. Mild as you could ask for. An easy test, wash your hands with it. If it stings, it needs to age more.

It also helps break down the glue layer in the hide. I always used a fresh water rinse to neutralize the lye. Vinegar tended to tighten the fibers in the hide, making it more difficult to break down properly. I was brain tanning 40-50 hides a year...
