I would specify a MUZZLELOADER gunsmith. Many modern gun mechanics are not that familiar with them. You want someone who knows where to put the vent.

Degrease the mechanism, and use reverse electrolysis to remove the rust. Reducing pressure on the spring is the correct route, You may even want to thin it. I have no idea why they make the spring so strong. I personally detest set triggers, and...

Nearly 40 years ago, I got stiffed by Monte Montana,Jr. Wild West Show. I called his lawyer, was told to get in line with other creditors. Still waiting.

I still occasionally go to the library, and consult the Thomas Catalog. It's actually multiple books, filling several shelves. The catalog lists the business information of every company in the US, along with the owner, CEO, and other top officials....

I agree, don't care for the threads on the White Lightening, although the tap isn't all that hard to come by. They were popularized by the eastern cult. They work no better than a standard 1/4 X 28 vent. Another point on that. Vents DO wear out....

I get daily real estate listings. There are some reasonably priced properties in the Lemon, S.D. area. If you want cheap and dry, look at Glasgow, Montana. Only problem is, you are a LONG way from anything resembling a real town.

Good job. too many are afraid to tackle a plank build. I find them easy to do, and you can make them as you like. Too many kits have sloppy inletting, or the lock mortise out of place. I've not done a Kibler kit, but they apparently have such good...

Have you read the muzzleloading shotgun sticky in this topic? To me, what you have now is not a good pattern.

I was advised that if you have to go to an old well that hadn't been pumped from for quite awhile, to dump in a gallon of bleach, then let the water run for 24 hours to clean the system.

I had one done when I was a young kid, and another when I was in my 20's. Very little pain, and no bruising at all. What the heck are they doing to cause bruising?

I ran onto something similar this winter. I bought a car around Jan. 6, and kept waiting for the title to arrive. I was getting close to the expiration of the temporary tag, so started making phone calls. It turned out that although the dealer sent...

I do the same, works great, easy and quick to do. I drilled a piece of steel round stock to the proper diameter, hardened it, and can put in a cartridge and file the point in seconds.

Fun stuff! A friend finished building a double ten bore recently, and we shot it the past couple weekends. He got it regulated to shoot under 2" at 100 yards. At 16.5#, it's a handful to shoot, but the weight deals with recoil nicely. I would need a...

Like rifle bullets, you can over lube, and get lube purging. This especially holds true for a .38 at lower velocity. When you lube purge, accuracy will fail.

Housing has gotten high in Montana, too. I heard last week median house price in Bozeman is $658,000. Kalispell is not far behind.
