An end to shooting ranges

  1. quilbilly
Here in Jefferson County the Seattle Bloomberg anti gunners have moved their anti-gun/anti-shooting range activity to our county to shut down the Jefferson County Sportsmen's Assn. range and prevent a new shooting range from being built. The county ordinance the bloomers are agitating for will require millions in improvements to the current non-profit range then tens of thousands being spent on inspections every year. It is virtually identical to a Kitsap County ordinance that successfully shut down ranges there. They say safety is the issue for the JCSA range which has had a spotless record for 50+ years and noise is the problem at the new proposed range even though the range is 1-1/2 miles from the nearest road or structure of any kind including two creek drainages and ridges. Now that Bloomers have been successful eliminating ranges from Kitsap County and are moving to mine, they are headed your way. At the initial hearing 6 months ago, every word from the Bloomberg agitators I heard was a pure lie. This next hearing will be the big one on Monday Oct. 1. The JCSA , the Jefferson County Republicans, and other 2nd Amend. supporters will be rallying at the courthouse 2 hours before the hearing because the Bloomers intend to pack the hall early. Since the Bloomers got violent at the hearing six months ago against a supporter of ranges, I am expecting more from those bullies who rely on intimidation.
Two of the three county commissioners are virulent leftists and anti 2nd Amend while the third is retiring so I don't know how much hope there is.
Be prepared to counter the liars and bullies of the Bloomberg crowd.

The hearing was last night and the members of the JCSA flooded the hearing room outnumbering the anti-range people by about 3 to 1. We got our point across (3 min speeches for 2 hours). Now we wait. There is a rumor afoot that the anti-range/gun people want their own hearing (again after flooding the February hearing) on short or no notice which would be against state law about public meetings

For the record - The Jefferson County Sportsmen's Assn range has been grandfathered in so it is safe, sort of, for now. The real push by the local leftists and Seattle's Bloomberg people was to prevent a commercial range where police and security people could train.
The now three leftists on the county commission are virulently anti-police and anti military so they keep illegally changing the rules to tie up the builder of the commercial range in court. The saga of moving the goalposts continues.

Happy new year, quilbilly. I'm hoping 2020 is the year that common sense gains ground. Even if only a little.

The current rule to keep the Jefferson County Sportsman's range open in response to the Chicom Virus is that only those with the combination to the gate (paid members) are allowed to shoot and social distancing is required (not exactly hard to do).
