well first of all i can think of no fire arm other than a cannon that you would want to used fg powder in
are you sure that is the granulation size that you have it is not very common
i use 2f and 3 f a lot and have no problem with standard primes either pistol for pistol or rifle for rifle

I have used Fg for about 15 years now in a 45-110. It works great. Quite a few folks also do. Its as common as any of the other Granulations.

WLR's and Fed 210 work well with it the Rem 2 1/3 or the Federal 150's are some of the better Pistol primers for BP usage.

I get along pretty well with cci or winchester large pistol or large pistol magnum primers. Simple ol Large rifle primers work well also, but the pistol primers usually give better groups.
1f goex is pretty good stuff , especially in 45-70 and larger.

Never used Fg but do load FFg & 1.5 Fg only primers I use are Federal mainly because I have a stash of them I have never had a failure to fire.

Camerl2009,

I use only Fg In the 45-110 and Like I said it shoots very well, that other fella needs to get out more, quite a few of us use FG Swiss or Goex in National Champion Long Range competition.

You will like it just fine.

I use the FG powder in my 45-120, and per some of Kenny's old posts, tried the WLR and like them. They were about 1 moa better than my BR-2's.

Some time ago I followed Kenny's advice and use Goex Fg in my .45-110.

With the .444" BACO Money bullet patched to about 0.451", some WLR primers it's easily the best shooting BPCR I own.

Nothing wrong with 1FG. It's my powder of choice in all my calibers from to 40 to the big 50.
And I like win. LR primers.

with the 577/450 MH I get best acuracy with LPP 85gr Wano P rolled oats filler ,milk carton wad 1/4 inch geess cookie milk carton wad ,CBE .470 480gr lubed bullet seated out untill it just kises the rifling ,this will leave one or two greese groovs showing depending on the rifle ,I just crimb enough to hold the bullet on one of the driving bands

Winchester or Federal would be my choice. I have never fired your caliber nor do I know anyone who shoots it. The large pistol Winchester have given me good service but I prefer the Federal first if I'm loading for any gun with light hammer fall. I've had 4 failure to fire this year with Winchester so I use Federal in those guns with out mishap. The ones who had failure were competition rifles for SASS and had a lot of smith work.

There is a primer test for power and uniformity that cabinetree did a while back. Shows pistol primers to be more uniform. Also a test for brass hardness that I think John B did shows pistol primers softer. I use water color paper under my pistol primers and if nothing else it leaves the pocket clean.

There is a lot of garbage in modern literature related to "use this granulation in that". Try Fg, you might be surprised.

hey kenny
lighten up a little
when i first responded to the post i assumed he was referring to the powder to use in a pistol since he had mentioned pistol primers and you not what assuming does to people
and i totally agree with all of you about the use of 1f in large volume and caliber guns
not jumping on you or anyone else and don't want to start a peeing contest just thought i would like for you to know how i precieved his question

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL

sorry for any confusion i may have started
