Hello,

I have a double cavity Lee Mold 90413 for a 45 acp 155 grain SWC. I guess it is discontinued by Lee as they don't show it in their catalog.

I would like to get a six cavity mold for this. Will Lee make me such a thing? Would anyone be interested in a group buy for such a bullet? I'm ignorant about how the group buy thing works. I've read about it here so I think I understand it. But as this is a bullet that they have made in the past I don't know what can or can't be done

I really like these due to the relatively small amount of lead they use for everyday practice. Saving 45 to 75 grains per bullet over a 200 to 230 grain bullet adds up to a lot more bullets from the same pile of wheel weights.

Thanks for any help or advice. Heck, I would be interested in purchasing additional double cavity molds of this same bullet if nothing else so when I wear out the first one I have back up.

LEE used to make a six cavity in this mold. I found one after looking for 8 months on a dealers table, but I doubt that any are left now. LEE could make you one or a group buy could be started. The $100 setup fee would apply until you got 25 buyers though.

Id be interested if you started a group buy.

I've looked for a mould for this bullet, without success. I sure do like six cavities!

Well I'm willing to run a group buy for this 6 holer, but I need some guidance on how to.

Can somebody help get me started?

Thank you,

Another 45 cal lightweight that Lee has is the 452-160RF. Only listed in the 2 holer mold tho.

Run it and I will buy one .

I found my old 2 holer ran .4535 with a soft alloy and was most accurate at that dia.
At least in the loads I shot .
So make it big enough , can always size them down

look in the group buy section of this mold for advice in how to run a group buy.

I'd be in for two.

KS, I've forwarded your candidacy for sainthood to the Vatican. I believe that Lee discontinued this mold five or six years ago; I'd been searching the known universe for this mold for three or four years and had despaired of ever finding one; then blindly stumbled upon the last extant new six-banger (Lee # 90417). I've been treating this mold as if it were an eggshell, fearing that if I ham-fisted it to ruination I'd never be able to replace it, so I'm really hoping that your planned group buy gets off the ground (I'll second the .4535 dia.).
FYI, I did, after despairing of ever finding a 155-SWC, get the Lee .452-160-RF. While it may make a fine revolter boolit, it's a major headache in a 1911.

dug up this very old thread, hoped now there would be more interest in this 155gr bullet.

I'd be in for 1 or 2, 6 cavities of this. I don't know if any of the original posters are still around. Maybe we can get this going again.

Does anybody have a picture of the boolit in question?

Still here, still in for at least two (maybe four; a couple of my fellow shooters love this boolit); still nursing the mould along, 19,000 boolits and a threaded insert for a handle attaching screw later. I'm eager enough that , if the number required for Lee to waive the set-up fee isn't reached, the fee be split between the number of moulds ordered (not the number of buyers... I don't feel that it would be fair for me to pay the same portion of the set-up fee for my two to four moulds as the caster who's only ordering one).
Jim, Mr. Technoignoramus here will attempt to enlist some help and get a picture posted within a few days.

I'd be interested in one of these. I've found this boolit at the local range while mining the berm and hoped to sometime find the shooter to see if I could get a few for a tryout, but haven't had any luck.

Here is another thread i was passed talking over this simular topic, it seems 45 2.1 has/or had some drawings of designs. For me I'm not dead set on the 155, a 160, or 170 would be fine aswell, I want something significantly lighter than a 200, and in 4 or 6 cavities. Don't know about anyone else.

I have a Saeco 4 cav in (I think) a 62 "B" series. It looks a lot like the one in the picture that compares three boolits. I'll weigh one, but I seem to recall it was in the 160 area....

My Saeco four cavity #62 drops 160 grains with my alloy.

Is yours the regular, or "B"?

94Doug,

My Saeco four cavity mould is the 062-B, underneath that is stamped "63B" (possiable batch number?). The boolits are 160 grns lubed from my alloy.

My alloy is 50/50 RL and WW. My muffin pan ingots weigh approx 2.3 #. I put ten of these in my ten kilo RCBS pot and add a one pound ingot that is 90% lino and 10% tin.

I started the above thread to see if we have the interest it looks like we have. I had to decide on a particular size, I figure 165gr target round would meet all the goals we have been discussing in this thread. see you there.

_Perhaps NOE or BRP would be willing to take this on as a small group buy of 15 or so molds.

I always called the 155 .45 ACP SWC the "thumbtack".
