I know some of you guys have one of the old Lee 240 gr molds for a 41. Do any of you have some good loads for a Ruger Blackhawk? I just got an old mold from ebay and I want to try it. All the loads I can find in the books are for Lyman round nose and have a c-oal of 1.71. If I crimp in the crimp grove on the Lee I have an OAL of 1.6 I hope to use 2400 powder or Lil-Gun. Help me out ,I have 100 bullets made from w/w's and I want to shoot something.

What gun? For the mod 57, my standard load was 18 grains 4227, when crimped to allow the rounds to rotate in the cylinder. These boolits typically weighed 250 grains. I would start at 16 grains with either lilgun or 2400. ... felix

Start with about 9 grains of BLUEDOT and work your way up. I was able to survive loads that PACO noted in the LEVERGUNS atricles, HEAVY BULLETS IN THE 41 MAG. You shouldn't have problems with a 240gr bullet. I was using 295 and a 310 grain bullet!

If you just want a accurate mild plinking load I've found 4.5g of trailboss to be great with that exact same boolit. It'll give you about 700-800fps. KevMT:Fire:

IIRC, I've shot that boolit with a load of ~6.7gr of Universal Clays. It provided decent accuracy in my M657.

Thanks for the info guys. I have settled on 16 gr. of 2400 and OAL of 1.590. I have 50 loaded and am going to try them tomorrow with a new Pact Pro Chrono.
