Not sure if this is the best place, most appropiate place to post this, but here goes. I was wondering if there was a great place to order primers from? I only ask because while I know many good places to order from, I never knew of the surplus powder dealers until I found out of themuntil I came here, so I ask.

Many thanks,

Ron

Its been a while since I had to mail order primers but I use to get them from either Powder Valley, Natchez or Widener's. I would suggest a price comparison from all available outlets and watch that haz mat fee! For the last few years I've been buying them in person at Camp Perry during the National Matches. If your anywhere near Nothern Ohio in July or August you really should stop by there.

The only one I am familiar with is powder valley (http://www.powdervalleyinc.com). They offer primers at about $10 less than they are available for retail where I live. Unfortuntely, primers are subject to a $30 hazmat fee no matter how many your order. I think they will ship up to 10,000 in a shipment. Due to the hazmat fees, it's not really worth it unless you buy at least a flat.

I'm planning on stocking up. I live 100 miles from the nearest gun store so this is my best way. I've been comparing prices so I'll go that way.

Thanks,

Ron

Ron--I picked up 10k primers from Hi-Tech on my way thru St Louis this fall. Small Pistol were $75/5k and Large pistol $77/5k. I believe he charges $20. haz mat fee for shipping and waves that when 4 jugs of powder are ordered. Fortunately for me I go thru St Louis a couple times a year.

Ron, you can also look at T&T Reloading. Not sure how they stack up pricewise with the other suppliers listed, but another source to look at...Ray

Ron,
Check with Wideners.
Ask about the Wolf brand of primers.
Their Haz-Mat is $20 for up to 60# of powder and primers mixed.
As a side note the current source of berdan primers is the Russian brand and they seem to be good.
In addition, you might call Black Hill Shooters Supply if you have a valid C&R license.(800-289-2506)
Or can get any local store with tax number to order for you.
They are 'wholesale' only but are flexible.
They do drop shipments for an additional $3 and haz-mat is included in their prices.
This is not the Blackhills which manufactures ammunition.

..............Graf & Son is another source. I was lucky enough to find out they were discontinueing the PMC (made in Russia) primers. They had the LR at $56/5000 and their prices include shipping to the lower 48. They'll ship 7 sleeves for one $20 haz mat so I got 7 sleeves :-). When you're checking around, remember Graf pays the freight.

Midsouth Shooters Supply. Check out their prices. Best prices I've found.

Holy smokes! Am I glad I still have over 10K various primers left! Those prices seem steep when I have boxes marked $17.00 per thousand. Ah, for the good old days!
