All the alloy charts reference WW's as Bhn 9.
Over the last 5 years accumulating over 800 lbs, the Bhn's have been either in the range of 13.5 or 15.4

9 seems pretty soft, mine have alwasy been harder than that, 12-13 checking with my LBT tester.

Only thing I have smelted in the last few years with a BHN that low has been 22rf bullets.

My last few batches have been 9 BHN...and I`m none too happy about it. Have been very busy running rifle matches for J-word bullets, so my CB endeavors have been limited. The only 2 cast rifles I`ve spent time with recently on the range have been the K31 Swiss, and a newly acquired 1903 Springfield. The K31 doesn`t seem to mind the softer batch, but the Springfield with the RCBS 165gr Silhouette bulllet (which casts .309) screams for a larger boolit...showing gray wash at the muzzle and a shotgun patttern at 100yds with 16gr of 2400.

Amazing ... apparently the manufacturers are making the weights up with various alloys. STP, with a 9 Bhn, they must have fixed the roads around Keuka and Seneca Lakes ;-)

ACtually, most charts show clip ww around 12BHN & that is pretty much what I get. Now stick-ons are almost pure lead so closer to 8BHN.

It depends on location some John as the WW's here in Louisiana are in the 10 range. I have never found any that show higher. I use a Cabin Tree tester. My SASS bullets are all in the 10 range. We have found it harder to secure any WW's in this area as most tire shops are in the Recycle mold.

I just checked my pile of clip-on ww ingots and the are 12 to 14 BHN.

My stick-on ww ingots check 6 to 7 BHN.

Hope this helps.

I find that the larger WWs are harder than the small ones. Sometimes I think somebody is cherry picking the bucket before I get to them. That's when most are really small and the BHN is around 8-9. When I get a cross mix of sizes the BHN is in the 12-15 range. I also find big truck weights to be up to BHN 14-19. Most J range lead is around 9-11.
I use different ingot molds for each type, to keep them separated.
