I have a 686 revolver. It works fine pointing down, pointing up it jams up. I believe the "hand" (the thing that rotates the cylinder) isn't staying in place. Anybody have any ideas. Is it possible I'm missing a part? Something not installed correctly?

This gun was given to me in this condition. It isn't worth much, so I won't pay a smith.

Pull the side plate off and see if the hand torsion spring is in place. Pictures here:

I'm gonna tinker with it some, but if I get bored with it, I will contact you. This thing spent some time in a flooded basement, it aint pretty.
