I don;t know why and do not know why you want to shoot 777 instead of the real stuff. However, The makers must know why so why don;t you ask them?

my guess to this would be that 777 burns about 15% hotter than black and it is a lawyer thing they put on the containers // but then just a guess

777 is available in two different grades.
The fffg grade should never be used in cartridges.
The ffg grade is the one to use in cartridges.
Load up to 100% of available space.
VERY LIGHT compression is OK.

Because the lawyers don't want stupid ignorant reloaders to use it in fixed cartridge reloads who are too lazy to read the Loading Data Notes on the Hodgdon website ... http://www.hodgdon.com/loading.html and then can't figure out that the fixed cartridge loading data is in the Muzzle Loading Loading Data section ... http://www.hodgdon.com/ml-warning.html

Triple Seven is a high energy product designed to provide the muzzleloading hunter with higher velocities when used in the same VOLUME as blackpowder. To duplicate a blackpowder load velocity using Triple Seven, you must decrease the powder charge by 15%. *See WARNING below.

Triple Seven In Cartridges: Use data specifically developed for Triple Seven FFG only. Cartridge loads should be used exactly as listed in this pamphlet.

Enough said?
