JTknives and I went out last night and shot my 10" 45 win mag Contender for the first time. I had 50 test loads consisting of a mid range charge of AA9 and a 200gr XTP. Out of those 50 rounds we shot 20 and called it good. The recoil out of my contender was stout, the muzzle blast, and flash was awesome. The only round we put over the chrono clocked at 1875fps...pretty sure 2000fps would be doable with this bullet and powder.

It seemed pretty accurate once I got it on paper we just shot at some steel plates.

Anyone shooting one of these cannons?
What type of load are you running?

I plan on using this for boolits up to 250grs, I have a sweet shooting 15" 45lc contender barrel that really seems to like 300+gr boolits.

I shot a few different 250ish grain cast from my Automag over 16.5 grains of Blue Dot. It was a recommended load, and seemed to shoot well, and was pretty snappy. A slower powder might be faster in the 10" T/C.

you might want to try AA7 thats the powder for the 460 rowland that is real close to the 45 win mag in case length. steve k

After my first few firings at full loads, I switched to BRP 454-310SWC PB and 5gr of clays. A lot softer shooting and still very fun.

I bought this to shoot sillywets but the recoil is a little much for all 40 targets.
