D'oh! I've done it again, picked up a nice little 92 with excellent bore, $250, half mag, ladder sights, very original. It will see a lot of Willbird's group buy mould through it. Gawdddddddddddd! There is no hope for me, :-)

I'll try and get a pic tomorrow.

Mick.

Thank your lucky stars the cowboy craze hasn't hit Oz yet. You could add another zero to that price here (just about).

I am considering getting my dealer's license so that I can trade guns and ammo in my retirement. I won't make any money to speak of I realise that, but it might help keep my 4wd on the road and allow me to travel to gunshows, shoots (that I already would have gone to) as a tax concession. If I do that I think I might keep my eyes out for similar rifles and liberate the odd one home to the States. In the meantime I'll just have to wring this one out and see what the fuss is all about with this cartridge.

I realise that it will be eighty next year, but I suppose being made in 1927, it could handle most loads.

About the only thing I don't like about the 32/20 is the cases seem to be so easy to wreck with a die if you aren't careful . Other than that I think it's one of my favorites to use .
I do hope yopu enjoy the "new" rifle :-D

I'm sure I will. I have a hundred factory winchesters, which wouldn't feed in my last 92. I hope this one will feed them. Mick.

Wheeled past the shop today and got some pics. This was a reasonably expensive exercise, I also picked up a nice post 64 Mod 70 (late model one with nice stock and sights) in 22/250 for $AU350. Barrel is reasonable, stock and action are excellent. It might rebarrel to a nice cast boolit shooter, I will try it as a 22/250 first, they make an excellent rifle for calling up wild dogs (pig dogs gone wild and feral dogs and dingos, lot sof them around here).

Boy, this retirement business is going to be busy working out loads for all of these rifles.

I have two Marlin 1889 models, one 28" and one 24", in 32-20. Both made in 1889. They are great for accuracy and function and handle any reasonable load. I've even used them for CAS shooting. AA9 is the powder I use most but WST/231 provide good accurate light loads. It should do well on your wild dogs too.

We don't get AA powders here, but I use a lot of 231 in my 9mm. I'll give it a try when I get it home. Mick.

Mick, maybe we oughta pay you to to go shopping for new/old lever actions for us. You seem to have a knack or either one lucky dude. Frank
