What powders can I use for cast ammo in the sks? Bullet is the lee 155 grain. I shot mine today for the first time with cast ammo with 15.3 grains of 2400 and I am wondering what my other options are. Thanks

In my SKS cast loads with that bullet, I have used:

Alliant 2400
RL7
IMR4227
H4198
IMR4198
H322
WW680 (now discontinued)
AA2015

None of them performed what I would call badly.

use a surplus powder we get up her called WC 735 which is said to be 5% faster than H 110 if that helps any.

What about h335 and blc2. If so what would be a good min and max load for these powders?

26-28 gr 4895, depending on flavor, with that bullet. Tried others....always go back to 4895, mostly H4895.

16 grains of H335 cycles my AK nicely. Couldn't tell you velocities at the moment, but it's a nice, accurate load with just a little punch to it--throws brass in a neat pile about 8 feet away.

I use AA1680, 2400 and Rx7 for cast boolits in my SKS's. They all work very well and will operate the actions in the 5 different SKS's I have used.

Good morning
I have used 1680 for years with the lee 155 gr gc. I start all my sks at 16 grains and add .5 grains till they function 100%. Most work at 17 grains. Then I add another .5 grain and happily fire away. That has worked for 5 SKS rifles now of varias countries.
