He was out today and we did not see a thing in the morning. I put him in another stand this afternoon and he shot a real nice doe with the BFR .500 JRH.
We took pictures but he has them on his camera. I hope he posts some.
By the way, he made a perfect heart shot.

LOL, Dick! Small hole in, small hole out, and total wreckage in between! I'll put up a photo a little later in the day.

When I get the skin off, I will take some more pictures. Spent an hour finding a knife. Some guy I know puts a black handled knife in the leaves after dark! [smilie=p:
I found fence wire, shotgun shells, and 1000 hits under ground, all junk from the quarry days. I think I could run through my woods with the detector and it would never shut up.

I know you two are having fun, but lets here if and how far it ran......... the story if you will since Jim said you shot it in the afternoon and someone missplaces a knife in the dark... Hee hee. All that power going out the other side and wasted... tsk tsk.

I shot her as the sun was going down. It got dark quickly thereafter. I shot her offhand at about 35 yards in the shoulder, and she sprinted off about 40 yards before running into a log, flipping her over. She didn't twitch after that.

I took this photo right after I shot her and before I gutted her. As you can see, it's getting dark.

I don't think she made 40 yards, maybe 30 at the most because the gut pile is not that far from my stand.
Some fool here is cutting another deer-----Dam, I hate it! I have the skin off and shoulders done. Larger holes then I thought in the meat. I need some BIG bottles of Scotch, my day is shot!
When Whitworth gets his own house, he better set up to butcher.

Darn, I forgot to tell you guys, don't use hard boolits, they don't work. You need TNT in the ends!:mrgreen:

So besides Whitworth's great shot, what you're saying is the boolit acted like the 45-70. It punched through like a laser beam.

If by blew through you mean that it wrecket the heart and all else that was in its path, then yes! Actually, it acted much like my .475 -- which always gets a physical reaction.

That mess up top would actually help you shoot better in low-light!

Think Ill leave the 44s and 45s at home and go with the 475 in the morning after looking at that! Nice job. Might as well wear some shorts and flip flops since it will be around 70 in the morning :(

So what did 44man mean by a hard boolit needs TNT?

His comment was made in jest as some folks believe that hardcast bullets just blow through tissue and leave caliber sized holes.

Water dropped wheel weights..... It's a truncated cone bullet with about a 77% meplat. 44man made it. It weighs 437 grains and the load we use runs it at about 1,350 fps.

HI,

I:cry: always feel cheated:cry: here in UT. when I see you guys get to shoot more than 1 deer.

Mmmm. I'll bet they've got some nice food on the table tonight. The clean and cold outdoors air warmed up by the nice cooking barbeque and a nice piece of newly hunted venison on the rack. How about a cooking picture? You're killing me. All I've got is a frozen pizza tonight. [smilie=1:

So far it has been only one for me.......went out Saturday afternoon again and didn't see anything I could shoot. But, the season's not done yet.
