Has anyone used PowerPistol with 380? I don't mind buying some HP38, but normally use PowerPistol so I have a good deal of it. I'm using a Lee 102gr mold cut to 357 with Carnauba Red.

I have used it before, but I don't currently have access to my load data. Here's a google search which provided lots of info:

i bought a 4 lb jug of power pistol so far ive only tried it in a 38 super with cast bullets and the barrel leaded with every load tried starting low and working up to max . the higher the velocity the worse the leading . i did not have this problem before when useing several different powders . so maybe it doesent work well with cast bullets ??????????????
in the 380 i just loaded some with PP & hornday 90 gr jhp that i picked up , 3 boxes for $10.00 a box
i havent shot them yet from my 2-380s, as i usually shoot cast

The new Lyman manual does show a start load of 3.8 grains, and a max load of 4.3 grains of Power Pistol behind the Lyman #356242 90 Grain RN boolit, but does not show that powder for the Lee 356-102-R boolit which they also list.

Thanks -- I'll have to check in that book then, even if it means going to a different caliber. :drinks: These boolits are dropping at about 106gr too, so I may have to back off the charge even further...

boollits dropping at 106 grain? What alloy are you using? Lyman #2 (a standby) is supposed to drop that boolit at 102 grains. I use Rotometal Hardball and get 100 grain from mine. Your heavy weight indicates to me that your alloy has too much lead and is most likely softer than it should be.

Do you have any Unique? It's a better-performing powder in .380 than Power Pistol. (I use 4.2 grains of Unique with 95 grain cast bullets. I need to try some 100's but will have to back off the powder to about 3.8 or 4.0 gn)

I do have some Unique, but haven't been a fan of it for the way it meters in my Lee powder measures -- haven't tried it in the dillon though...

I'm using straight water dropped clip-on wheel weights...
