Has any one shot any of these 110gr RN .30 carbine bullets from a 06? (that is loaded in 06 cases) I got a bunch of them and was thinking light training ammo for my son....Thanks...Buck

No experience to offer but I did check my Sierra bullet manual and noted that the .30 Carbine data was for a 1-20 twist barrel and the -06 was for a 1-10 twist. I'm sure the throat is a different shape for each cartridge also.

I can think of no better way to teach safe gun handling to a young man than using light loads in a good gun. And if I were in your place I'd load them and shoot them. But I wouldn't expect gilt edge accuracy and would be satisfied at whatever velocity level yields an acceptable group. And have fun! Hope somebody can offer better suggestions.

I made some of these using 10.0 grains of Trail Boss powder to launch SAECO 302 125 grainers. I could have loaded a lot more, but I just wanted to plink on the pistol range. They're very quite, but not silent, with no recoil to speak of. I'll bring them afield for dispatching and small game. I can't remember if I chrono'd them or not...

The Speer Reloading Manual #13 has data from 1956 fps to 3356 fps, with a variety of powders. I would load on the slow side for light training rounds.

I shoot Sierra 110 hollow points from a 308 and get one hole groups.

Hi Guys,

I shot the 110 grain bullets in my two Springfields 03 & 03A3 years ago.

They were one holes with one rifle & shot shotgun patterns in the other!
low recoil & cheap to shoot.

Best,

Modern Reloading by Richard Lee, Second Edition, lists 27 powders for that bullet weight.
Reloader15 being the first and IMR4350 being the last.

I tryed some over 29.0 gr IMR 4227 and they are pussycats! dime sized groups at 30 yds. The are flying at about 2200fps and kick like a 223. Thanks for the help guys, I need to upgrade my loading books a bit.
