I decided in in August I wanted a Drift boat, so with a set of plans copied out of a 1958 out door life article, I started. the framing is all CVG Doug Fir, ARACO plywood for the hull, and fiberglassed inside and out. Now if I can get pictures to load :-)

You know, the lake trout are biting pretty good over here on the lake. Bring over the boat, and I will test it for a couple years for you. Looks really nice!

Very nice. The color coordination between the cabinets and the boat is nice. When I was in junior high, my dad and I built a sailboat from plywood and figerglass and we got the plans from a magazine. I think we spent more time in the water than on it.

If it's a drift boat why the paddle? :kidding: Nice workmanship, and nice organized shop

Very nice boat. Your door is big enough to get it out isn't it?

Maybe it could turn sideways Ray ...

You did that only starting in August? Beautiful. I need to get into that drift boat fishing someday. It's really a big deal on the west coast. Talk about an upper body workout.

My bro-inlaw hires a father and son team of 2 guide boats on the Smith River every year for steel head. That was real fun. He doesn't invite me anymore, cause my sis and I out fished everyone that weekend, even with a hangover ...

What-" I shared the fish... Good time with my sister, infact the best time we had together since we were kids. Actually- they've been to busy to go since.

Gotta see the Smith. It's unbelievable...

Very impressive! I build a little plywood pirogue in my garage a few years ago and 'glassed it--great fun, and a satisfying learning experience--but I didn't decide to immediately find plans for something bigger!

Krag, are you dropping her in out at Pendleton? or the John Day?

I'll try to answer the questions, and actually the shop is not as clean as I usualy keep it, a place for everything, and everthing in it's place.

wallenba; it is a traditional framed boat, but it could be built with the stich and glue method, on my next one I think that is what I'll do.

Rayin NH; There is an 8' roll up door in the end not in the picture. I built this shop with the idea of bringing my 19' Bluewater I/O in for a rebuild. Well the door opening is 96" and the beam on the Bluewater is 98" so I do my work on it outside.

.357; Check you PM, sent you a link to the plans and some links to some sites that are real usefull when building a boat. You can always PM or email me, and I would answer as best I can.

DUKE NUKEM; She will spend most of her river life (with me at least) on the John Day between Kimberly and cottonwood. I don't like real rough water, and that is some very overlooked Steelheading water.

Thanks for all the kind words. It has been a project that I have enjoyed, and has kept me from fishing, so now it's done I'm back on the water.
