Spent the last 2 days in my deer stand for the first half of our late buck 4-day season. I would have frozen to death, except my big black barn cat tracked me down, climbed up, and sat on my lap. Cool, eh ? Good thing I didn't see any blacktails, though...

That reminds me of when I was fishing in the float tube. I am out at least 500 yards from the tent when my wife goes to sleep with our lab zipped in the tent. She gets her nose under the zipper and the next thing I hear is splashing as she has swum out to see what i am up to. It was Oct and I had on insulated layers under the waders. I had to hold her head up the last 200 yards as we headed for shore. She has been dead 14 months now, still miss her.

One of my cats that has been dead about 10 years use to follow me all the time. When I would walk around the corner and down the street to a friends house for dinner or a party the cat would wait in the bushes for hours till I came out and then walk home with me. He is the one I originally made the out door cat house for so he would have a place to go when the wife and I would go to work.

We raise our cats with maximum physical contact as kittens. When I pull into the driveway coming home from work by the time I shut off the engine and unbuckle my seatbelt I have two cats looking through the windshield at me.

Yep, I love my dogs AND my cats. The cat that sat on the deer stand with me usually goes walking with my dog and me every day, usually 1.2 miles.

trk, my wife and I adopted two cats even though we already had two and they are all indoor cats. One of the cats Precious follows me every where, I use to be able to take a book to the reading room and now it is the petting zoo. When I would get up in the morning and take a shower precious would get between the curtains and talk to me then follow me into the bedroom while I got dressed. And she would then follow me to the door where I would put my shoes on, and then when I came home from work she would be waiting for me. She is the second female I have ever had and she is so expressive that her indian name is talks alot. She is always licking me and wanting here ears scratched but nothing to worry about she has good staff 24/7.

We had an Irish Setter years ago we had rescued from the pound that had never been taught to stay in the yard. One day, while we were out, she somehow got out of the back yard. It was pouring down rain, but when we came home, there she was, sitting in the middle of the driveway, right in front of the garage door, waiting for us. I think we often underestimate our animals.

Regards,

Stew

Doc Highwall -

Here's one of my buddies (Twitter). I fed her - her first live mouse. (Parental responsibility)
