Hi folks,

Just got a new Lyman 12ga slug mold, the air gun pellet style, and am wondering what the screw in the bottom is for. I'm guessing it's for securing the base pin when the mould is in storage. Any special tips apply to getting the best results with this rig, especially as regards pre-heating?

Any particular alloy likely to give best accuracy?

The screw in the bottom is to hold the hollow base plug in. Slip the pin in and turn the clip past the screw. After casting, turn the plug and pull it out before opening the blocks. Do NOT tighten the screw.
Good luck with the slugs, I have not had any luck with them at all, or any other slug that goes in a shot wad. I have shot thousands with every combination ever thought of. The wads get destroyed and most key hole the paper.

Thanks 44man. If worse comes to worse I'll try pure lead and lube in a brass case.
