I've shot boolits in my Classic Carbine in 45 LC and it worked better than I can see or hold.

H&R (NEF, Marlin, Rem.?) .44 barrels were 1 in 38 twist when I bought my extra barrels for my Handi, so I got a .444 instead (1 in 20" twist). Worth checking out what twist is in your barrel!

I have an old H & R Shikari that was a 44 mag., but due to pitting in front of the chamber I had it rechambered to 445SM.
With iron sights it shoots 3 to 4" at 100 yards with cast or jacketed.

Mine seems to like Lyman 429215 cast from 3 parts wheelweight : 2 parts lead, lubed with BAC and sized .432 over a stout charge of IMR4227. Most all of these have large bores and will need to be slugged, .429 and .430 shoot poorly in my rifle, .431 is fair.

Mine dont shoot worth a hoot with cast (as far as I have experimented). I have a GC 310 grain .430 mold that I lapped out to .431 and accuracy is still shoddy.

I have tried that boolit also and didn't have any luck with it, the barrel is the wrong twist for it I believe.

I originally thought the gas checks were coming off in flight causing the boolit to tip slightly and go off course. So I glued them on using 3 different retaining compounds still with no luck. So that mold was abandoned for jacketed bullets so I could get through hunting season with it. Ill work on it again after the season is over.

Started playing with my 445 Handi. Bore is .431" , so I now have a mould that casts .434" and I size them to .433. The .433" boolits shoot alot better than the .431" I tried before.

For it's simplicity. I have shot mine with the 250- 265 gr. range of heavy revolver loads, plain base and gas checked, with consistent results around 2 1/2 to 3 inches at 100 yards, iron sights. I tried some 300 gr. gas-checked loads, and on a cold day the occasional round would wander out to five or six inches. I attributed this to the slow twist.
It is a pretty good thumper - loads that will clock 1300 in the revolver will give 1700 - 1750 from the rifle.
I haven't tried the rifle with lighter loads and bullets, but this is a project I'll put on the back burner maybe for this winter.

I have a .44 Magnum barrel for one of my Handi Rifles. I shoot lots of cast boolits thru it, infact I don't shoot any jacketed thru it at all....
I use the 240 grain Lee SWC GC , sized to .430", and Now have a Ranch Dog .432"-265 grn boolit to try out..
My barrel has factory iron sights, I have no problems with accuracy, fun to shoot !
