Very nice!

Someday I'll come across a project gun and try to get the courage.

Good job!

Don't leave it laying around. I have been afraid I would loose my rifle if I did that. Looks good though.

In about 1999 I was working at the Bass Pro Shops store while I was in college. A customer came in to replace his camo'd turkey shotgun that he lost. He set it down to take a leak and never found it again. :holysheep

Heck! Ask away. No big secret. I was amazed at how EASY this was. Take heart men! If an ape like me can make it look this good, I can only imagine how nice some of you talented guys can do.

No sir,
I used Rust-oleum Camo paint.
I simply wiped the gun down with acetone to get rid of any oil on it, and masked off the lenses of my scope. I started with Green as my base coat. Sprayed the whole rifle with 3 coats, letting it dry for an hour between coats. The tiger stripes are just strips of electrical tape that I cut into those shapes and stuck on the gun. Then I sprayed 4 coats of khaki over everything, again allowing it to dry an hour between coats. Then I peeled off the electrical tape pieces, and sprayed it with 6 coats of clear flat paint to try to protect the finish as much as possible.

I took a break hunting one day. I sat just off the road in camo pants and jacket. My rifle and pack leaning up against a tree. I had two guys walk past me looking at me. I scared the bejeezus out of one guy when he realized i was a person looking back at him. I was even wearing mis matched camo! Hard to believe they almost walked by at ten feet. I would lo jack that rifle

That will fit in nicely in the desert Dan.

I have been using more tans and browns since I moved out here.

When I was in Michigan I used lots of green and black, anything to break the out line helps when calling coyotes.

I used to do my buddies shotguns for spring turkey hunting. Started with a base color and then used various leaves to create random patterns with the other colors of camo paint in the little kits. They came out pretty nice.

It's amazing how simple patterns can be and blend in so well, sometimes.
