I have out grown my lee furnance. it holds about 4lbs and I am finding that my casting sessions require more lead. Any suggestions on a casting pot mmoney is a concern can't spend 300 on a new furnance.

Did the Lee give good service?

My first electric pot was the Lee 4 pounder, I learned to cast with that thing and passed it on to my BIL.....and he learned to cast.

I've purchased three more Lee pots since that first one 38 years ago, have cast several tons of boolits, and all three still work fine.

I'd recommend another Lee.

Either a Lee 10 or 20-pounder.

Get a 20 pounder. Do not melt down rough metals in it.
My bottom pour is the easiest thing to use for me. The only issue I had was the guide bolt on the top kept loosening up. When that happened, the handle got harder and harder to use.
If that happens, that is a place to look.
Otherwise, I found my pot to be great!

I agree, get the Lee 20#er. No since moving up one step and outgrowing it in another 6 months or year and it's not that much more. I took my 4# pot and run pure out of it for MLs. I can crank the heat almost all the way there and still have the big pot for regular boolits.

Never, and this is important, never give away a working lead pot!

Because as soon as you do something will come up that it would have been perfect for!

I would buy the Lee 20 Lb as well and save the little dipper pot for doing small runs to test a new mold or for single cavity HP's and the like.

The 20 pounder actually holds 16 pounds running over full so I would not even consider the 10 pound pot.

Have to agree here, the 20 pounder is also a much better pot than the 10. It drips less and heats up faster.

Will add another vote for the Lee 20 pounder. Mine works better and doesn't drip as much as my 10 pounder.

Absolutely the 20 pounder. I have two 20 pounders, one bottom pour and the other for ladle casting. (Originally I smelted into. Didn't cost much).

I guess we are all assuming you wanted to bottom pour and with that in mind
I agree..A LEE 20 lb pot is the best value by far. But if your a laddle pour guy ( alot of guys are!) you could get a single electric burner & cast iron pot cheeper

As for my 2 cents go with a LEE 20# pot!

One of my Lee pots is a 10 pounder that I modified for ladle casting. I simply removed the valve mechanism and brazed a nail in the spout.

The same could be done with a Pro-4-20 if a larger pot was desired. It's also completely reversible if desired.

Go for a LEE 20#; the 10# has drip issues that the 20 doesn't.
At least the 20 drip is easier to fix than the 10#.

I use my old 4# LEE as a tin melter to make micro ingots to make alloying easier.
I drilled out an old LEE 2 cav with a 1/2" bit to cast 15 gram tin slugs. and a .440 ball mold makes a good 5 gram tin ball. makes making 20/1 a breeze!!!
A few hours casting pure tin and your set for the year.
