I'm trying to build a custom .45 BH and need to get hold of a 44 cylinder to be bored out, but I want a fluted cylinder to reduce weight. Could you weigh your cylinder for me to give me an idea on how much weight I will pick up if I go with unfluted? Thanks a million!

Ask the question on rugerforum.com I am sure someone will answer you shortly.

FWIW, some vintages of 44 and 45 cylinders are not interchangeable by design to prevent someone from firing the wrong cylinder in a revolver, ex 45 cylinder in 44 revolver. They are different lengths in regards to ratchet length, oal, gas ring length. You can make it work, but will have to adjust the amount of barrel stub protrusion. In short, it is more than a simple rebore and drop in. Unless, you get lucky! Confused yet :)

Here is an early 80s 45 Blackhawk with a Super cylinder that rechambered to minimum spec 45 by Gallagher.

tek4260-I was talking to Mr clement at clement's custom guns, and really rodding out the ol BH. I need a big bore BH old 'new model' cylinder of 41 or 44. I'll prob do the .41 (and lose some OAl) due to the fact that that there are many availabe.

tek4260, What diameter did Gallagher make that minimum cylinder's chambers?

My .44 bisley cylinder for the same treatment is .010" longer than my .45 bisley cylinder. Line bore, & rechamber.

.480 with .4525 throats I believe is what a "per Linebaugh" tight chamber is, and is what this one is cut to.
