just wanted to share with yall.... Ranch Dog solved my marlin 44 mag issues with his excellent 300gr 44mag FP, and FINALLY we got to put it to use. Saturday morning I had my oldest son hunting with me about 25 yards from the feeder. This hog emerged around daylight and gave us around 10 minutes to get set up. At the shot the hog ran and we lost his trail in the rain. Around 100 yards away, we found him DRT in the road. My son did a great job on his first hog and the 44 cal 300 gr Ranch Dog got it done. Thank you Michael, and thank everyone on this site for the help and encouragement. BTW..... The hog kept that 300gr slug. I did not want to go in to retrieve it. Proof they don't always "borrow" them. The hog weighed 360 lbs on a cotton scale.

RedFoxy and I want to send big congrats to the newly named HogShot.

Way to go Tiger. The poor little porkers we have been pluggin' holes in wouldn't make a good shadow to that brute !!!!

my dad owns the property we were hunting on. My son killed the hog, and my wife got her first coyote with a 257 roberts. We had a hell of a weekend and my dad wants the photos framed for the cabin. I guided my sister for her first deer, but we didn't see much. A wonderful weekend of campfires, grilling, visiting, hunting, and good times were had by all!

Now that does sound like a great weekend. Next weekend is youth gun season in Ohio and I'm hoping to see my nephew in a similar pic. Being with someone taking their first big game animal is a wonderful thing. I was in my early 20's when I got my first deer with a bow and my buddy that set me up in his stand was excited as I was. Very good! Your son is going to remember that hunt and tell his grandkids all about it when he is an old man. A very good "memory maker" trip. That's what's important in life. IMO

Great job! The only problem that I can see is that he isn't laying on a stack of 6 or 8 more of those vermin. :)

There is nothing I enjoy more than seeing pictures of a kid with his first kill, and a proud dad sitting behind him. It is the next generation of hunters, that will keep our freedom to hunt alive. Good going Dad, great going young man, and keep up the good work Michael.

Thanks, guys. I could not have shared with yall, or had the same experience with my son if yall did not help a noobie get squared away. Thanks to all, you were all with us in spirit, anyway.
