It helps if the pans are a bit rusty. Non-stick pans are another no-no. Getting them out can be tough without destroying the pan itself. Heat may loosen the bond, but no guarantees. turn the pan over and heat each cup with a torch and they should release.

I spray them with Franklin mold release from Midway.

NO OIL!! There may be a slight lip in the cups that will not let the ingots fall free. There is also the possibality of the tin coating soldering the ingot in. This is why most people look for the old cast iron or the newer cast iron trays.Robert

Shiney muffin tins are tin plated. The alloy is soldered in. The best way to recover the alloy is to break the cups from the plate joining them all together. The cups and plate should be separate pieces. Get the mufffin pan that is grey non stick. In these parts they are the same cost as the shiney ones. Cast iron iis EXPENSIVE and unnecessary unless you are doing a lot of (commercial) smelting. Any fumes put out by the non stick coating will be swept away by the same good ventilation you should have to remove the fumes generated by smelting.

That is exactly the problem. You get the $2 pans instead of the $4 non stick heavier ones.
