Yup, thats a .22 long rifle for comparison all right.

I've got one of those little things, but never fired it, still have the round case it came with the directions. Directions on mine say you can fire a lead shotgun pellet.

Yeah, it was a painful video to watch at times.......

I have read of real small guns they made it the 1800's(and early 1900's for bicycle riders to fend off dogs. If memory is working right the name was Velro and they had calibers under .17 .
Could you imagine a person safety being above that of a uncontrolled dog just the thought of it would drive a liberal politician to pass a new law!!!!!!

Firefly, that was the Velo Dog revolver, and it was a weak .22-caliber centerfire. It was about like a modern 22 Short in power - and you could rounds loaded with either a jacketed bullet or rock salt!

There was a 3mm gun that used actual cartridges, not a capgun. It's listed in Cartridges of the World.

that video was very painful to watch, so much so I skipped through most of it. If you have Alzheimer's it' wasn't so bad....

People just want to ham it up in front of a camera or microphone and know nothing about bringing a presentation and getting to the good stuff in a timely manner.

have singleshot version of this pinfire cap/flare gun.
still can be found on the net and ebay, caps and flares not cheap but do work in low light.
would not try to use as real signle flare as whern in trouble as in wet and cold doubt you could load it.
wife ordered my barouke pistol from a web site 15 years back that sold bavaren items for 35.00, i spent as much 5 years ago for more caps and flares.

We used to make some pretty small launchers way back when. A bicycle spoke with the nut turned around, pack the nut with the white part of strike-anywhere matches and top it off with small lead shot. Hold it over a flame and wait for the POP. [smilie=l:

Mine is a single shot. I have shot it but not for defense purposes!

And here is how I carry it.

I've got one of the single shots as well. Mine came with real ammo. the barrel on mine is bored through. (a lot of these had a bore that turned and went out the top or bottom to prevent the firing of live cartridges.)

I can't say much for accuracy or penetration, but it did put a tiny hole through a single sheet of notebook paper at 3 feet. The "bullet" looks about like an elongated piece of #8 or #9 shot.
