Interested to hear if anyone has loaded a 200 gr Lead boolit in either caliber using the 358315 boolit or RCBS Equivalent. If so what were the results.

I haven't used the 358315, but I have loaded quite a few 358430 200 grain .38 Specials and .357 Magnums. I've tired everything from mild 650-700 fps loads using Trail Boss in .38 Special, up to 900 fps with 2400 in .38 Special +P, and 1150 fps with 2400 in .357 Magnum. All velocities were out of a 4" gun. I've been very pleased with the results.

Now I'm looking forward to trying our about to end group buy for a 200 grain SWC .359-.360 in the PB version in .38 Special and .357 Magnum and the GC version in .357 Magnum and .357 Maximum. If things go according to plan that mould should be shipping by the end of the month or the beginning of next month.

Shameless plug for group buy:

I've run A LOT of #358430s through a number of 357 Magnums, 12.4 grains of WW-296 being my favorite load. This is right out of the W-W data manual, and uses a WSPM primer. Very accurate.

Al would you mind if I posted that load in the Gunloads section for others to try? I'll list you as the author.

Not at all, Bob--but it's not "my" load, it's from the powder company some years back. It was sourced from the Winchester Components Catalog, (c) 1999. Pressure is given therein @ 35K PSI, which is within the most current SAAMI limits and should be safe for any 357 Magnum revolver or rifle. Safe--yes. Comfortable in a J-frame? Doubtful! I ran a couple dozen of these through my Model 19 x 2.5" a few weeks ago, and they definitely let you know the primers functioned. Extraction was very easy, as it has been in all revolvers this load has been fired in.

The Winchester data's velocity rating (1335 FPS) might be a tad optimistic. In my BisHawk x 7.5", 1225-1250 FPS is more like it. My 4" 686 runs it about 1150-1175 FPS.
