Have the chance to pick up a Hollywood press from my BIL. His father only reloaded shotshells so as far as I know there are no shellholders for metalic cartridges. Does anyone on this forum make shellholders for this press. What would be a fair offer? If I don't take it it will go to an Estate Sale for peanuts!

C-H/4D makes a universal H-ram ($10.37, part #407190) that will allow you to use any shellholder. I have three different Hollywoods and the H-Rams work fine. Call them between 1-3pm EST and talk to Beth. She will take your order.

It looks like this:

Does your press look anything like these:

I am looking for a particular model and if yours is that particular one, I am definitely interested. Please post a picture.

If the press doesn't have a rubber handle, it needs one and CH sells one for a couple bucks. Here is one of my Hollywoods with the CH red rubber handle:

I track Hollywood prices on Ebay and can tell you the current market value. And it is probably worth more than you imagine. Grab it and post a photo here.

I agree with all that Kevin has said. Also if the die sets are their and marked Holly wood, you should get them as well.

Are you a Hollywood person?

Fedex JUST dropped off my latest acquisition: a Universal B. It is in excellent shape and requires just a little cleanup before being mounted on the bench. I will be checking with a local machinist to see if he can make replacement handles for it and a Senior Turret I got last week.

As soon as they are mounted, I will be starting a thread here for people to post their Hollywood press pictures and may see if others want into a group buy of the handles. Both are threaded the same, but the Senior handle is smaller than the Universal.

Good information so far. Keep it coming. I haven't seen it yet. Just talked to BIL about it this AM. His brother came into town from Texas and they are going thru stuff and will be hiring someone to do an Estate sale. I just mentioned I'd be interested in any reloading equipment before they give it away. Been asking him for years about reloading equipment but he's such a PROCRASTINATOR. His father had a Model 70 Winchester that I've been trying to lay my hands on. It's pretty much useless to him since he has no interest in reloading. My sister told him to just give it to me cause at least I'll use it. I wish!!!! Did see a single stage on E-bay that was at $152.50 with 3 days left in auction. Had three shell holders. I recall they were 45LC, 45-70 and 300H&H.

Kevin,

I do not have any hollywood stuff any longer and wish I had kept the few pieces I had in the past. It is very interestign tooling. It also does not seem to go down in price. This brand always seems well made if not over built.

I like most old tools, as such I really like when you guys post pictures.

I just got one of the CH4D shellholders off eBay for less than Dave asks.

Interesting. I check Ebay everyday and the only H-Rams for sale there are pricier than what CH wants. I just checked and the only one available is a $16 bid with a Buy Now of $25.

Are you sure you got the H-Ram as is pictured above, or did you end up with a dedicated Hollywood shellholder that is only good for one cartridge head size? They look similar. A regular RCBS-type shellholder goes onto the H-Ram as is pictured on my Senior.

There are two Seniors for sale. I have seen that particular model sell this year for anywhere from $135 to $303. There is no rhyme or reason for the large spread in prices as the sellers never state whether the press is all-steel or the less desireable aluminum model.

Since you haven't seen the press yet, it could be any of those I pictured, or a Junior, or something else.

Here is an aluminum Junior:

Yes, mine is the universal. I guess I just got lucky. It is very tight to get other shell holders into it, but they fit. I frequently search broadly and find things poorly or miss listed and can get them cheaper because others don't know what they are or don't bother to look through lots of pages to find one thing.

BIL finally sent me some pictures and the following description:

I have attached two photos of a Hollywood Senior Turret Reloading Tool manufactured by Hollywood Gun Shop about 1964 or ’65. My dad and I reloaded somewhere between 500 and 5000 12-gage shotshells on this machine before it was decommissioned in 1970. It is a very robust machine that is capable of loading large rifle shells and swaging bullets, however, the only accessories that I have are for 12-gage shotshells.

Accessories shown to the right of the machine, from left to right, are:

•Wad installation tool
•5/8” tie-down rod for use when swaging bullets
•Two shot measures
•Two powder measures
•Three small parts
•Four 8-inch-high transparent cylinders
•Four cylinder caps.

I also have a 21-page Hollywood Reloading Tools catalog (not shown).

Especially at this time of year when everyone has Christmas bills and some are off work.

It went for $787, which wasn't completely outrageous as it came w/ lots of goodies: second turret, 4-primer arms, shellholders, dies, shotgun loading components.

However, there is a barebones Senior Turret w/ the tie bar that is already at $632 w/ 3-days left. I blame myself for the inflation and should have kept information on Hollywoods a secret.:holysheep

After 13 months, BIL, brought the "Senior" over yesterday when he came for X-mass dinner.[smilie=w: I told ya'll that he was a Procrastinator.:bigsmyl2:

BTW, it was listed in their Estate Sale, while I was in Arkansas over seeing the build of my new house. I had no idea of the sale taking place!

No one made an offer, even after the $600 asking price was lowered to $400 on the last day.:holysheep (The proceeds, would have been 65% of the sold price or $260)

What :takinWiz: me off, is the last time we talked about it, I asked him to get with his brother and decide what they wanted for it. :veryconfu

Well, he unwraps everything shown in the previous pictures and said he would take $200 for the whole package. Not wanting to take advantage, I gave him an extra $50, since he did deliver it! :happy dance:

I guess that where they get the saying:

YOU CAN ALWAYS PICK YOUR FRIENDS BUT NOT YOUR RELATIVES! :groner:

If anyone wants one of these, there is a nice one on Ebay. The price isn't unreasonable.
