This has been a pretty good week for me. First I got to see my oldest son start his new career with the Texas Dept of Criminal Justice; Momma felt good enough to get out and go for a ride with me; scored about 300 lbs of FREE wheel weights from a local tire shop (donated $20 to their ‘coffee kitty’ as thanks); assembled and tried out my new smelting rig (still needs a few mods – but it did work);

set up and christened my casting bench in my workshop,

and now, all I got to do is figure out where to store over 250 lbs of lead ingots and muffins!

He completed 'boot camp' and was sworn in as a Correctional Officer for the Texas Prison System.

Ken,
Yes, I think we all know that feeling, and it truely doesn't get much better than that :)
I'd offer you cold storage...since I am a bit north of you :) :)
But I need to leave space for a potential score I am working on...could be 1000 to 2000 lbs...so the fellow says. I bought a few thousand rounds of 1x fired RIFLE brass from him last year at this time, I was skeptical of what he said he had til I seen it...that's what he had, a few thousand rounds of Rifle brass, all the excess has been sold. This september, I met up with him at the same Gunshow as last year and He claims he has about a ton of various alloys of lead/solder and a box of molds. I can't wait to hear from him, but am worried about his price ? (the brass was $175...I sold the excess for about that, the remainder was basically free)

Welcome to the addiction.

As for storing the lead...
I have my ingots in a milk crate that is sitting on a 4 wheel dolly. With a little effort, 400lbs of lead can be easily moved around the garage.

Welcome to Cast Boolits.
One thing bothers me in your pictures. You are cheating. You have a scale.
It looks like you have jumped in with all four feet.
I stack mine on the concrete floor and up the wall. I keep expecting to see some cracks in the floor.

Life is good

Hope you don't mind, but I comandeered your idea - it works GREAT!

I have just moved for work, you should have heard the Removalists ******** about the weight of my stash, and it would not be nearly as big as most of you guys. All of my WW ingots would add up to about one milk crate (I put them into about 5 crates so each crate isn't too heavy).

I read on a milk crate in Texas that it's illegal to use it for anything other than it's intended use. :bigsmyl2:
