Hello-We bought a whole estate awhile back and after going through it I found 40-50 printing blocks. I have sorted out a few that felt heavier and they seem to be some type of linotype?? I know there are quite a few that are made out of aluminum but these melted pretty good..They took a bit of heat to get melted and are hard as hell.. Would these be a good source of antimony and tin??Thanks much

Thank you much...Now I have to go through all the other ones and make sure they are NOT aluminum!!! I also have my eye on two pewter candle stick holders!!!

Carefull checking them. After you lift a couple of the lead ones you are apt to throw one of the aluminum ones through the roof!:kidding:

The larger "print blocks" ( 1/2 " or so larger) are Mono type and have a good % of Tin (Sn) a good % of Antimony and remaining is lead. You shouldn't find any Aluminum.. Even the spacers are good source of alloys.
Do a little reading and learn more.

Linotype or even monotype. Monotype was used for large letters. Good score.
