spent the last 3 days in the lovely company of my 50ak. Did i tell you that this thing kicks! Finished today with 20 round loaded with a 500 grain cast lfngc and 68 grains of benchmark. That load makes even me cry like a little girl! Makes shooting a 300 mag afterward feel like a 22! 3 days and over 200 rounds is way to much of a good thing!

I sure hope you used a "sissy bag". Nothing like 25 lbs of shot between you and the gun to soften the blow. Works better than any of those PAST type pads I tried.

I shot a bunch of 405gr. bullets out of my single shot 45-70 with a stiff charge of Varget. They would blur my vision and give me headaches.

I've been loving my 45-70 - have put 200 rounds through it since I got it a few weeks ago, 50 at a time. Probably trapdoor level, since I don't want leading, but the gas check mold is on it's way, so I can get the "full effect". I would love to try a 50ak someday, sounds like too much fun.

Recoil! Man, I tell ya, the worst kicking rifle I ever shot was a 700 Remington 308 a guy had made his own stock for. Ugly as all get out. He shot 180's that came in a belt type ammo holder so they might have been handloaded. Every fall he'd have me sight it. Now I've shot 375 H+H, 358 Normas, 348 Winchesters, 45/70, even a 458. This things was the worst! After the first 3 shots I got the sissy bag. I don't know what it was about that thing, but it just HURT.

I never saw or heard of him shooting that rifle himself, much less getting a deer.

been shooting my little 4570 too. Its a marlin cowboy cut down to 18 inch with a custom stock and case hardening that dave clements did and its light. I was shooting a 465 lfn with 53 grains of ramshot tac and believe me you know your shooting something there too!

.....I get enough pain from the arthritis in my shoulder without giving it any extra from shooting full house loads....

.....why not easy down that powder measure a notch or two and enjoy your shooting even more!.....
