Picked up several of these at the rifle range yesterday, not sure I have ever seen one before. Can anyone ID it? I think it is about 2" long, feels like solid lead.

Any ideas?

Looks like a power belt muzzleloader bullet. The plastic dougnut slips over the stem. I think they are about 405 grains or something like that and 50 cal. Ron

Maybe PB but I have seen a lot of those and this one looks different.

it is not an powerbelt, i shot them out of muzzleloaders from 45cal to 50cal. (got an bunch free) the stem part is too long. checked some 405gr and 348gr to see.

an 405gr powerbelt is .7455" from the nose to right the base (no including the stem). including the stem .8485". width of the stem is .1835" and sticks up .128"

the plastic base should come off, think I have had maybe 4 stay one out close to 200 I have shot.

unless there is one I have not seen, I know another member that has worked with powerbelts more then me.

one more thing, with an aerotip just under 1" long total.

Wasn't there a two part swaged bullet used in the civil war??? Could this be something like that?

Not sure about civil war type bullets.
Its definitely not a PB though. Seems like this is stumping the experts!

I posted it on another shooting forum and they also think it is a two part target bullet for a black powder gun.I remember reading an article about such a gun and it came equiped with a false muzzel so as not to damage the rifleing when loading.

They are called slug guns.
