In short ,is .324 to big a projectile for a.322 bore without resizing?

IMO If you can get the round to chamber , it should be just fine

I try try to size to the throat more than the bore

shootr I try most of the time to size my bullets 2 thou over what my bore size is.
Should work.

Kodiak 1 & Johnch,
I feel more at ease now,Thanks.
I loaded up a dummy round and it was shaving lead off on the neck, but it chambered just fine.I then ran the case neck into a 8x57 die enough to open the neck up to .323 and seated a fresh bullet into it and had no deformation and no shaving of lead off the bullet. I then crimped it and chambered it with no hint of any resistance ,as a matter of fact it still just drops right into the chamber,so I guess I 'm good to go.
I don't have a bunch of experience with cast bullets,but my old .32 is getting hard to feed with factory rounds being a little hard to find sometimes,but in my travels I found a Lee bullet mold in N.H. for $10.00 and since I had been casting for my muzzleloaders the rest fell in line .It', also cool that the older Marlin's have ballard rifling.again Thanks ,I just got to figure out what powder to use probably 3031. S;
I use a couple of 8mm, .323 cast bullets in my 1894, which has a .321 groove barrel and have good results with them.
I do not worry about a few thousands, especially with the soft cast bullets, when the manufacturers have a + - .002 tolerance on the groove diameter of their production barrels for use with jacketed bullets.

shoot,

i have done alot with the 32ws. what i have found that if you size it at 323 then you are good to go. lee makes a sizer for this for about 8 bucks. you may get lucky and some one may have one on the board. i use a rcns fn at 177 or so for my 32ws. i resize 30-30 casing and use 25 grains of imr 4198. this makes it pretty fun to still shoot. i have had pretty good luck with it. another thing you may want ot look into is a unversal neck die from lee they are also under 10 dollars. well worth the investment.

Shooter if you are shaving lead put just a hint more bell on your brass and you will solve that problem too.
Ken.

Yup, 10-4 on the "more bell" and the 25 gr. 4198 is that load without gas checks? cause I'll probably shoot it like that until I run down the rest of the stuff-.32 gas checks, order and delivery of the lube sizer. I'm also making a unit to accuratlyand precisely modify the nose profile to a flat nose suitable for tubes.I'll let you know if it works! shootrj2003

I made a tool to precisely cut a meplat 0.230 in. off the nose of my .324 bullets which were a 8mm design and maybe not so suitable for a tubular mag.
The original wieght was 175 gr.
For 4 lead bullets, after shearing it off with a wood chisel they avg. between 168.2 to 166.6
for a deviation of 1.55 gr.
For 4 pure linotype bullets[I bought about 30 lbs., marked bars,at a yard sale last year for $5.00]the wieght ran 155.4 to 154.32 for a deviation of .7716 these also were cut or sheared with a wood chisel.
For 4 bullets of lead-lino mix ,there was NO [0] deviation for a wieght of 167.4 gr.
these were however, filed off,so wether it was luck, the alloy [doubtful],or the method of removal[probably]remains to be proven, but I feel filing them is more precise.
Incidently 5 Speer 170 gr. fpsn had a deviation of .7716 also.
The tool was a block of steel witha .328 hole drilled in it of sufficient depth to leave
the part to be removed sticking up to be A.sheared or cut[easier] or B. filed [more precise].
It is a bit time consuming, but , it makes a tube magazine safe bullet for hunting with a meplat for safety and shock and it does not reduce the wieght by much.
You also get two bullets for one mold.
I do,however have to see the range results before I get too excited.shootrj2003:coffee: [smilie=1:  :???: :Fire:
