Ok today I paper patched 50 or so .454 di 250 gr bullets to increase the di to usable size for the 45/70 .
BTW this will be my first time using paper patch .
I want to try and make a super quite and no recoil load for the Marlin 1895 or H&R Handi rifle .
I loaded some RB before , but I had these bullets cast up ...............So I thought why not try them .

No need for long range , this will be a training load for the GF and small game .
Jut need to be accurate at 30 - 50 yds .
With enough power to punch out a rabbit or clay target

I was thinking a light charge of Unique .
But where to start ?

I also have American Select , Blue Dot and 2400 for powders on the faster side

Any sujestions ?

Oh yea , would a light coat of Alox just on the paper patch help or hurt ?

I add alox to my patches, both for a lube and for a degree of watrproofing

Let us know how they do at 30-50 yds. For accuracy I think the bullet itself has to engage the rifling- not just the patch, if the fit is marginal a soft alloy (air cooled WW) or higher pressure or both may be worth trying. I use LA on my PP's all the time.
