I wasn't sure where to post this because I know this isn't lead, but I don't know what it is. I assume it's some kind of new environmentally-correct non-toxic bullet that I should have heard about already.

It's hard, and looks like copper. It cracks apart in a vise. Anyone know?

My guess is that it is some type of frangible bullet. Probably meant to eliminate lead dust on indoor ranges.

It looks to be a frangible NT (non toxic) round. I've seen them with that pie logo on the meplat, as well as the Winchester W.

I believe they're made of sintered copper. I call them "dust rounds" because they turn into dust when they impact a solid object.

My range at work is a lead-free range and those are the only rounds we can use. There's an indoor range at a police supply store in town that's the same way. The non-toxic .45's all have the small primers too.

oddly, they could make them from bismuth/1% tin, and sweep up the powder re-melt and do it again.
but those are probably a copper powder or tungsten iron nickel tin alloy powders.
