Need some help with this. Have some cartridges(8mm Lebel) that were formed from 348 Win, need to pull the heads and reform the brass to .43 Spanish. My hammer style puller can't handle the rim size of 348. Any ideas? Would like to save the bullets for my Mauser..................Don

You have a shell holder for your 8mm Lebel? I always just use a shell holder in place of the "fits-all" collet you get with the hammer.

You could also look into a collet type puller to use with your press.

use the seating die to bump them down about a 1000th and than pull them,It breaks the seal and allows easier pulling. depending on the bullet side cutters grip it well to use the press to pull them, can be hard on the jacket though.

If you have a lot of them, look at Horniday cam lock in 30 cal. Be gentle, fingers on insert can break if forced. If you only have a few do as others suggested.

I just pulled down hundreds of 7.62x54R with an RCBS collet puller. Works well, beats the
heck out of the hammer type if you have large quantity.

Your kinetic puller should have come with extra collets, but if not you can just go buy a set. Or...as suggested just use your shellholder.

I'm not saying your idea won't work, but I did not have any luck trying to reform .348 brass to .43 Spanish. The brass starts to be a tight fit about 1/2" above the rim, and won't go in the chamber all the way. The rim is also way to thin.

The best solution I found was to buy cases from Buffalo arms. They used to have purpose built .43 Spanish and reformed from .348 Winchester.

Trust me, this is not something you want to try on a Rockchucker.

The Hornady Cam Lok is a good tool for this, you'll beat your brains out getting mil bullets out kinetically.

If you don't mind making the bullets up a little you can run them up into your press and grab the bullet with visegrips or similar and pull the shell down that way the press pulls it out.

Thanks for the info. Did the shellholder trick and it worked just fine. Would have never thought of doing that. Wanted to use the brass for reforming to .43 Spanish, but is cut to short, won't have much of a neck. I run the .348 in a .43 die, starting high and bump in down til it is to hard. Then file the ridge off. Works OK for me. I just neck size so rim thickness isn't a problem.
